Minerva Academy launches fundraiser to compete in European tournaments

The academy aims to raise ₹96 lakhs to cover the complete cost of the European Tournaments
Minerva Academy has launched a fundraiser to raise ₹96 lakh for sending their youth team to attend major international and elite football tournaments in Europe. These tournaments include their participation in the Helsinki Cup (Finland), Gothia Cup (Sweden), Dana Cup (Denmark) and Norway Cup (Norway). The funds will be used to cover expenses such as travel, accommodation, kits and registration for both players and staff
Minerva Academy has contributed with over 240 players to India’s national teams across various age groups including the senior level, and have also secured 22 titles in national and international competitions.
In 2023, Minerva Academy FC became the first and only Indian team to win the Gothia Cup, Gothernberg, Sweden which is often and widely regarded as the world’s largest youth football tournament.
Why Minerva Academy needs to raise ₹96 lakh?
Minerva Academy’s fundraising campaign to raise ₹96 lakh is to fully support its youth team’s participation in Europe’s most prestigious football tournaments. The ₹96 lakh include flight tickets, visas, accommodation, food, transport, kits, and tournament registrations for the entire team and support staff.
This European tour is not just for the showing of their talent but a crucial step in giving India’s young football players an international exposure, or world-class competition, and the kind of learning experience which is rarely accessible at domestic level. But to make that possible, significant financial backing is essential.
Sending an entire squad of young footballers and their staff to Europe for a tournament involves many expenses that cannot be covered without a collective contribution.
Breaking down the equation, Minerva Academy appealed to the fans of Indian football stating that if 1 lakh people contribute ₹96 each, the goal is met. Or if 10,000 people contribute ₹960, the cost is covered. Even 1,000 contributions of ₹9,600 can fund the entire trip.
“When these young players take the field in Europe, they will carry the hopes of every Indian fan who contributed. Together, let’s make history. Together, let’s put India on world football map” Minerva Academy stated in their fundraiser.
The fundraiser is open to the public and every contribution whether big or small plays an important part for the Academy. The fundraiser has managed to raise an approximate amount of ₹3.4 lakh so far.
