Both teams fought for three points till the end of the contest.
Mohun Bagan reigned supreme in the second Kolkata Derby of the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season with a 1-0 win over East Bengal at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati on Saturday (11 January).
A solitary goal from Jamie Maclaren in the second minute was enough to separate the sides and help the Mariners the league double, as well as help them go eight points clear at the top of the table. Here are the Player Ratings for the game.
Mohun Bagan (by Uttiyo Sarkar)
Vishal Kaith – 6.5
Brave and reactive in his goal. Thwarted East Bengal’s attempts with his excellent punches. Didn’t have much to save.
Asish Rai – 7.5
Rai showcased his creative brilliance by carving open the East Bengal backline for Maclaren’s goal. Slightly troubled by the opposition’s pace down his side, but mostly held his own in an impressive display.
Tom Aldred – 7.0
Aldred maintained a sharp defensive line, not giving the rival forwards any room. Made four clearances and three possession recoveries.
Alberto Rodriguez – 8.0
Rodriguez commanded over a really sturdy defensive shape, frustrating Diamantakos with his marking. The Spaniard won six duels, made five clearances and two blocks, as well as moving the ball around efficiently.
Subhasish Bose – 7.5
The Mohun Bagan skipper was a vigilant figure on his side, not allowing much to materialize. He was smart with his game-reading, making seven possession recoveries and three clearances.
Lalengmawia Ralte – 7.5
Apuia showed no nerves against East Bengal’s midfielders, being at his efficient best in the middle of the park. He worked hard, making four tackles and winning six duels and excelled in moving the ball into the opposition half swiftly.
Sahal Abdul Samad – 7.0
Sahal couldn’t create that much, but he worked very hard and covered over 10.3kms in the game. Closed down the spaces really well, making five possession recoveries and helping his side control the game.
Manvir Singh – 6.0
Manvir had a bit of a topsy-turvy evening. He worked really hard and was defensively superb, winning 11 duels, but lacked ruthlessness with his final product. Missed a couple of big chances and couldn’t create much.
Liston Colaco – 6.5
Liston was a big problem for the East Bengal defenders with his dangerous speed and forward runs, bursting into key areas. He ended up getting Souvik sent off with a brilliant counter-attack. Despite his mazy runs, Colaco couldn’t create that much and had a late-shot attempt saved.
Jason Cummings – 7.5
Cummings thrived in his role in between the lines in East Bengal’s half, moving into the empty pockets to cause trouble. He created three chances with excellent final third passes and was very unlucky not to get an assist.
Jamie Maclaren – 8.5
In the biggest game of the campaign, Maclaren turned on his style. He oozed confidence and buzzed like a bee, with his clever off-the-ball runs and link-up play tormenting the Red & Gold Brigade. Scored an excellent opener with a real striker’s finish and continued being a problem all game long with his work in the final third.
Substitutes

The Scotsman couldn’t create much late on and had a shot go astray.
Dimitri Petratos – N/R
