Relief for India! Muhammad Suhail fit to play against Qatar in AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers

India registered a comfortable 2-1 victory against Bahrain in the first AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifier.

The Indian U23 team was a class apart on Wednesday night as it cruised to a remarkable 2-0 victory over Bahrain with stellar goals from Muhammad Suhail and Shivaldo Singh.

The star of the match was Muhammad Suhail, who scored the first goal for India. He was the best player on the pitch for India till the time he was subbed off.

Muhammad Suhail was subbed off after he experienced a strain in his hamstring. He immediately gestured towards the bench to sub him off. However, Naushad Moosa chose to wait and see if he could continue, but ultimately, he was substituted.

No serious injury scare

Suhail took to the ground when he first experienced trouble. But after receiving the medical attention, he was back on the pitch. The torrid hot weather in Doha took a toll on him, and he again fell to the ground, holding his thigh, making it clear that he would not be able to stay on the pitch.

Naushad Moosa replaced Suhail, giving him the much-needed respite. In a positive development, the update from Doha is that there are no serious injury issues for Suhail, and he will be fit for the game against Qatar.

Suhail’s presence would be a big boost for India in a fixture that would be tough to ace. Against Bahrain, he showed what he can do, and the opposition should be wary of him when he is on song. The Indian fans would expect Suhail to continue his form going ahead in the qualifiers.

India’s thumping victory

The Wednesday night turned out to be a feast for the Indian Football fans. They saw their next generation of stars making an absolute mockery of their opponents.

The Blue Colts were operating on another level against Bahrain. It was pure dominance from Naushad Moosa’s side, which resulted in a 2-0 victory. Now the focus shifts to the next game against Qatar on September 6.
