Muhammed Nemil signs new long-term contract with FC Goa
The young midfielder has signed a three-year contract
FC Goa have confirmed a new three-year contract extension for young midfielder Muhammed Nemil. He has put pen to paper for a new deal that will run up until 2027, showcasing the Gaurs’ desire to make the 22-year-old a key part of their future project.
Nemil voiced his pride at signing the new deal with FC Goa and told the club’s media: “I’m absolutely delighted to continue my journey with FC Goa. This Club has become my second home, and I am excited about the future and what we can achieve together.
“I am grateful for the support from the fans and the management, and I’m committed to giving my best in every match and training session. We had a fruitful season last time, finishing third in the ISL League stage and reaching the Durand Cup and the ISL Cup semi-finals – and we want to create a bigger impact this time around”
Nemil joined FC Goa in 2020 and spent one season on loan in Spain as part of the Marcet youth academy. He was one of FC Goa’s best players in the 2021 Durand Cup, which they won and he finished as joint second-highest goal-scorer with four goals.
The 22-year-old made his Indian Super League (ISL) debut in the 2021-22 season, making 14 appearances for the Guars. He didn’t feature much in the 2022-23 campaign due to injury issues and only made six appearances for Manolo Marquez’s side last season in the ISL.
Despite that, it’s clear that FC Goa have the utmost trust in Nemil’s ability to be a major player for them in the near future. He’ll probably look to fill the void left by the departure of Brandon Fernandes, who has joined Mumbai City ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The Guars have been quite proactive in tying out key players to long-term contracts in the summer. They recently confirmed a new four-year contract for star left-back Jay Gupta. Odei Onaindia has also signed a new deal that will see him spend the upcoming campaign with Marquez’s side.
FC Goa have also signed wing-back Aakash Sangwan as a free agent ahead of the 2024-25 season. The Gaurs had to bid adieu to a number of key players after the end of the 2023-24 season. The likes of Fernandes, Noah Sadaoui, Carlos Martinez, Victor Rodrigues and Dheeraj Singh all left the club.
FC Goa are expected to sign replacements for these players before the new campaign begins. But this new deal for Nemil proves that Marquez might be looking to using him regularly next season. The 22-year-old is a skilful player who can create big chances and also score goals out of nothing, and he’ll look to put his qualities to good use after this new deal.
