Mumbai City FC looks a strong squad with their new signings.

Mumbai City FC have made some exciting moves in the transfer market, securing several promising prospects to strengthen their squad for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season. While they have bid farewell to a few key players, the Islanders appear to have conducted smart business during this transfer window.

The team clinched the ISL title under the guidance of coach Petr Kratky, who took over mid-season from Des Buckingham. Kratky has done an outstanding job, leading the team to glory in his very first season in India. With these new signings, Mumbai City FC looks well-prepared to build on their success and make a strong push in the upcoming season.

We at Khel Now take a look as to how the Islanders can lineup with their new signings:

Starting XI (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper – Phurba Lachenpa

Phurba Lachenpa appears to be the first-choice goalkeeper for the Islanders, despite the recent signing of Rehenesh TP from Jamshedpur FC.

This addition introduces healthy competition, meaning the Golden Glove winner must maintain his top form to secure his spot in the starting eleven. Any slip-ups could allow Rehenesh to take over the position.

Left Back – Aakash Mishra

Aakash is a crucial player in the Mumbai City FC squad, with a strong connection to the fans as a favourite. Hailing from Balrampur, he has cemented his role and is poised to further solidify his position within the team. His contributions on the field are highly valued, and his presence is vital for the squad’s success moving forward.

Centre Back – Tiri

Tiri, the Spanish stalwart, proved to be a monumental figure for Mumbai City FC last season. His impressive statistics underscore his impact on the team: boasting a 79% pass accuracy, winning 77 duels, making 9 blocks, and achieving 87 recoveries. These numbers highlight his defensive prowess and reliability on the pitch. Tiri remains a key part of Petr Kratky’s plans for the upcoming season.

Centre Back – Thaer Krouma

Krouma was a late addition to Mumbai City FC last season and despite limited playing time, his performances caught attention. With an impressive 82% passing accuracy in just 13 games, he demonstrated his ability to contribute effectively on the field. Petr Kratky’s trust in Krouma suggests he may be positioned to partner alongside Tiri, indicating a potential key role in the team’s defensive setup for the upcoming season.

Right Back – Mehtab Singh

Mehtab has demonstrated his versatility and resilience in recent Indian matches, performing admirably even though right back may not be his primary position. While it’s uncertain if he will always start, his ability to stand firm when called upon suggests he will likely feature prominently in Mumbai City FC’s lineup when needed.

Defensive Midfielder- Yoell Van Nieff

Yoell Van Nieff proved to be a formidable presence for Mumbai City FC, especially after replacing Jahouh. His contributions in midfield were crucial, showcasing excellent passing accuracy at 83%, completing 723 successful passes, and making 31 key passes.

His ability to excel in passing, interceptions, and timed tackles underscored his effectiveness in the heart of Mumbai’s midfield.

Central Midfielder – Brandon Fernandes

Brandon Fernandes is indeed a player of immense quality, known for his long-range strikes, quick one-touch passes, and incisive runs. His contributions as the number #10 for FC Goa under Manolo Marquez were pivotal, and under Petr Kratky at Mumbai City FC, he will aim to replicate and possibly enhance his impact.

Central Midfielder – Jon Toral/Jeremy Manzorro

The new Spanish attacking midfielder for Mumbai City FC faces the task of generating opportunities and drawing attention due to his experience at the highest levels. However, if he isn’t included, Mumbai City FC has another option in Manzorro.

Left Wing – Vikram Partap Singh

Vikram Partap Singh is a promising talent for both Mumbai City FC and Indian football. Under Petr Kratky’s guidance, he has shown significant growth, evidenced by his impressive stats: 8 goals and 4 assists in 23 appearances.

The young star’s development highlights his potential to make a substantial impact on the field, both for his club and the national team.

Right Wing – Lallianzuala Chhangte

Lallianzuala Chhangte, known as the “Mizo Flash,” has extended his contract with Mumbai City FC, a decision that was widely anticipated given his impressive performances. Under Petr Kratky’s tutelage, Chhangte has experienced significant growth, as reflected in his stats: 10 goals and six assists.

His continued presence in the squad promises to be a major asset for the Islanders, as he brings speed, creativity, and a proven ability to contribute offensively.

Striker – Daniel Lalhlimpuia

The new striker will be tasked with leading the scoring efforts for Mumbai City FC, especially given that Iker Guarrotxena is still recovering from last season’s injury.

Transitioning from the I-League, he faces the challenge of adapting to the ISL’s higher level of competition. Nonetheless, his ability to step up in this crucial role will be vital for the team’s offensive success in the upcoming season.
