Mumbai City FC sign experienced goalkeeper TP Rehenesh

Mumbai City FC have made waves in the Indian football scene once again with the acquisition of seasoned goalkeeper TP Rehenesh on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old custodian, known for his commanding presence between the posts, joins the reigning Indian Super League (ISL) champions on a three-year deal, extending until the culmination of the 2027 season.

Rehenesh TP brings a wealth of experience garnered over more than a decade in Indian football, amassing 204 appearances and 59 clean sheets across various domestic competitions.

His standout performances notably contributed to Jamshedpur FC’s triumph in the ISL League Winners’ Shield during the 2021-22 season, where he showcased his prowess with six clean sheets in 20 appearances.

The Kerala native further solidified his reputation during the 2023-24 ISL season, recording an impressive tally of 61 saves with his exceptional shot-stopping abilities.

Beyond his skills on the field, Rehenesh is celebrated for his leadership qualities, effective communication, and adeptness in organizing the defensive line from his goalmouth—a crucial asset for any top-tier team.

While Mumbai City FC currently boasts Phurba Lachenpa as their first-choice goalkeeper, Rehenesh’s arrival promises healthy competition for the starting spot. Head Coach Petr Kratky highlighted the importance of depth in the squad, stating, “TP Rehenesh is one of the most experienced goalkeepers in the country, and we are happy that he decided to join us. His ability to make match-winning saves and protect the goal always will be a great asset to the team.”
