Top five nations with most players in ISL 2024-25

These countries have seen the highest number of representatives in the ISL this season.
The 11th edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) is up and running, as the teams are locking horns in fierce battles for three points on the board. Each team in the league is allowed to register six foreign players in its squad alongside the Indian contingent.
Teams are often seen making tremendous efforts to secure a talented foreign contingent to give them an edge over other sides.
Thus, today, we look at the five nations with the highest number of players except Indians plying their trade in the Indian Super League this season. (data via Transfermarkt)
5. France – 4 players
France are fifth on the list, with a total of four players playing in the league. The players are Madih Talal of East Bengal FC, Jeremy Manzorro from Mumbai City FC, Alexandre Coeff of Kerala Blasters, and lastly Mohammedan FC’s Florent Ogier.
This has been the highest representation by France since the 2nd edition of ISL in 2015. Some legendary French players to have graced the ISL with their presence include Nicolas Anelka, David Trezeguet, and more.
4. Morocco – 6 players
Morocco have seen some exceptionally talented players in the ISL over the years. This season, six individuals from the nation are playing in the league.
These include some of the most hyped-up and crucial players in the league, such as Ahmed Jahouh, Hugo Boumous, Mohammed Ali Bemammer, Noah Sadaoui, Alaeddine Ajaraie, and Hamza Regragui.
This number makes the nation take a 7.6 representation percentage in the league and a much higher impact in terms of performances and the roles they play in their respective squads.

3. Australia – 7 players
Despite the removal of the compulsory Asian signing in the foreign contingent, ISL clubs have shown faith in Australian players, and have invested heavily to acquire some of the nation’s biggest talents.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant are the first name that comes to mind when we talk about Australia, as the club has fielded an all-Australian attacking trio with superstars like Jason Cummings, Jamie Maclaren, and Dimitri Petratos.
Other players on the list include Jaushua Sitario, Jordan Murray, Ryan Williams and Aleksandar Jovanovic.
2. Brazil – 7 players
With seven players in the league and a participation rate of 8.9%, Brazil are the joint second-highest nation when it comes to representation in the league this season.
Diego Mauricio, Cleiton Silva, and Joao Victor are some of the biggest names from the nation who are playing in the league. Other individuals include Elsinho, Lukas Brambilla, Franca, and Andrei Alba.
1. Spain – 18 players
Leading the pack with a staggering participation rate of 22,8%, and more than double the number of players than any other nation, Spain are the clear winner when it comes to the nation with the highest number of players in the Indian Super League this season.
Spain have always been a major contributor to the ISL, with the nation regularly providing a great stock of talented individuals in the league.
This season as well, a majority of foreign players from the European giants have decided to play in the ISL. Some of the best players who performed well among them are Michel Zabaco, Borja Herrera, Tiri, and Carlos Delgado.
