Petr Kratky provides update on Akash Mishra injury recovery ahead of ISL 2024-25 season opener

The left-back picked up an ACL injury last season
The eleventh edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) is just a few hours away from kick-off. The opening game will witness Mohun Bagan host Mumbai City FC at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. It promises to be a cracker between two of the best sides in the league and both teams will want to start strong and take an early advantage.
Home side Mohun Bagan are the defending league shield winners while the Islanders are the defending champions. Mumbai City FC scripted an iconic comeback in May at the very same venue against the Mariners and won their second ISL trophy where Bipin Singh scored the winning goal and haunted Mohun Bagan yet again.
But, that’s now a thing of the past and focus shifts to the ISL opener on Friday. While both teams are expected to have the majority of their players available for selection, Mumbai City FC will miss out on the services of left-back Akash Mishra who suffered an ACL injury a few months back.
Petr Kratky provides an update on Akash Mishra
Mumbai City FC boss Petr Kratky provided an important update on Akash Mishra during his pre-match press conference before the ISL 2024-25 opener. Kraty was asked if Akash Mishra is a part of the squad for the 2024-25 season. He opened up and said that the Indian international is currently undergoing his recovery. He also said that he is in a good spirit and will be back soon.
“No, he is out with an ACL injury. He is currently in the rehabilitation phase but he is recovering very well. He is in good spirit and help of our medical team. He will be back soon,” said Kratky
Akash Mishra’s absence
As mentioned earlier, Akash Mishra suffered an Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury a few months ago in the semi-final clash against FC Goa. Due to this injury, Mishra wasn’t a part of Mumbai City FC’s squad in the ISL final and also missed India’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier games against Kuwait and Qatar in June. While there’s no update about his return from injury, an ACL injury usually takes 6-9 months to recover.
