Punjab FC will look to make it three wins in a row.
After a day’s break, the Indian Super League (ISL) returns to action on 25 September as Punjab FC host Hyderabad FC in the capital city. Though the history of rivalry between these two clubs is relatively new, the battles on the pitch have always been fierce.
They have faced each other only on two occasions in the ISL last season as Punjab FC are a newly promoted club. In their first meeting, Hyderabad FC held Punjab FC to a draw away from home in a tightly contested match that ended 1-1. However in the second leg, Punjab FC defeated an inexperienced Hyderabad side by a 2-0 scoreline as both Madih Talal and Luka Majcen got their names on the scoresheet.
In the ongoing season, the Shers led by Panagiotis Dilberis are off to a great start, winning both of their opening ties against Kerala Blasters FC and Odisha FC by a 2-1 margin. They will look to extend the winning momentum against Hyderabad FC who are struggling with both on and off the field issues.
Hyderabad FC’s new owners, B.C. Jindal Group, have tried to bring in some positive changes since they took over the club ahead of this season. They have managed to lift the transfer bans which Hyderabad have been struggling with for a long time and also signed some quality players like Ayush Adhikari, Cy Goddard, Allan Paulista, Stefan Sapic among others.
