The Qatar Stars League is a highly-competitive league competition which takes place in Qatar. The first division hosts a lineup of exceptional domestic and foreign players. In recent years, plenty of footballers with hugely successful careers in European football and other major leagues have arrived and increased the quality of the league considerably.

Yacine Brahimi

Yacine Brahimi plays for Al-Gharafa SC in the Qatar Stars League. He has previously played for Al Rayyan SC, the club he joined after five impressive years with Portugal’s FC Porto.

During the 2023-24 season, the forward scored 21 goals and provided nine assists in 21 appearances for the club.

Almoez Ali

Almoez Ali is one of the best players to represent Qatar and is fondly remembered for his exceptional goalscoring feats during the 2019 Asian Cup where he recorded nine goals, the most for an individual player. He plays for Al-Duhail SC in the Qatar Stars League.

Michael Olunga

Michael Olunga also plays for Al-Duhail SC in the Qatar Stars League. The striker won the Golden Boot during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, after scoring 22 goals in both campaigns. The Kenya international captains the national team and is a central figure in their squad. 

Akram Afif

Akram Afif is one of the most popular Asian footballers out there. He led the Qatar national team to a second successive AFC Asian Cup title in 2023 by scoring eight goals in the tournament.

The attacking winger plays for Al-Sadd SC and scored 26 goals, the highest in the division during the 2023-24 season.

Rodrigo Moreno

Rodrigo Moreno plays for Al-Rayyan SC in the Qatar Stars League. The striker has played for several high-profile clubs in the past namely Benfica, Valencia, Leeds United and more. He scored eight goals and provided five assists in 15 appearances in the 2023-24 season.

Sofiane Boufal

Sofiane Boufal plays for Al-Rayyan SC as well in the Qatar Stars League. The former Southampton midfielder is popular for his technical brilliance. Unfortunately, Injuries kept the 30-year-old out of action for most of the season.

Rafinha

Rafinha is one of the most successful players to play in the Qatar Stars League. The Brazilian has won multiple major trophies such as the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and more. He plays for Al-Arabi SC.

Phillippe Coutinho

Phillipe Coutinho played for Al-Duhail SC for the 2023-24 season after joining the Qatari club from Premier League’s Aston Villa on loan.

The Brazilian is remembered for his sensational spells with Inter Milan, Liverpool, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. 

Julian Draxler

Julian Draxler arrived in the Qatar Stars League at the start of the 2023-24 season after signing for Al-Ahli SC. He scored six goals and provided four assists in 11 appearances for the club in his debut season following his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Marco Verratti

Marco Verratti was chased by several clubs in the transfer window but it was Qatar Stars League’s Al-Arabi SC that secured his services ahead of the 2023-24 term.

The Italian international won the UEFA Euro in 2021 and the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain over nine times among other accolades.
