Bangladesh and India have emerged as the standout sides of the SAFF U19 Women’s Championship 2026 and will now meet in the final after contrasting yet convincing journeys through the round-robin stage at the Pokhara Rangasala Stadium in Nepal.
The SAFF U19 Women’s Championship 2026 got underway in emphatic fashion as Bangladesh announced their intent with a dominant 12–0 victory over Bhutan in the opening match. Bangladesh were in complete control throughout the contest, scoring freely across both halves and showcasing their attacking depth, with multiple players contributing to the scoreline.
Later the same day, India began their campaign with a hard-fought 1–0 win over hosts Nepal. In a tightly contested encounter, the Young Tigresses showed patience and discipline before finding the breakthrough in the second half. The narrow victory earned India a crucial three points and set the tone for their tournament.
On February 2, Bangladesh continued their strong run with a commanding 2–0 win over India in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the group stage. First-half goals gave Bangladesh a firm grip on the match, allowing them to control proceedings and remain unbeaten at the top of the table.
Nepal responded positively later that day, securing a 2–1 win against Bhutan. Backed by home support, the hosts displayed resilience and composure to bounce back from their opening defeat and register their first victory of the tournament.
The final round of league matches on February 4 saw India produce a dominant 8–0 win over Bhutan. Pearl Fernandes starred with a hat-trick as India put on a confident attacking display, keeping themselves in contention for a place in the final.
Bangladesh then capped off the group stage with another statement performance, defeating Nepal 4–0. The comprehensive win ensured Bangladesh finished the league phase unbeaten and at the top of the standings, sealing their place in the final of the SAFF U19 Women’s Championship 2026.
