India tops the list with a total of five championship titles.

The SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 is set to kick off in Nepal, marking the seventh edition of this tournament. The International football competition is organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) for the national women’s teams of its seven member nations.

The current members of SAFF are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The championship started in 2010 with eight teams competing for the trophy before Afghanistan’s exit from the federation. In the latest edition of the tournament, seven nations are battling for the title.

Over the years, many teams have competed in the SAFF Women’s Championship, but only two nations have secured the title.

Some teams have been striving for their first title since the tournament began but still haven’t won it. In this article, we will talk about the teams with the most SAFF Women’s Championship titles in history.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh Women’s National Football team won their first and only SAFF Women’s Championship title in the SAFF Women’s Championship 2022, the sixth edition of the tournament held in Nepal.

The Bengal Tigresses faced Nepal in the final at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu. The Red and Green emerged victorious, defeating Nepal 3–1 on their home turf. This win marked a historic moment for Bangladesh, as they claimed their first-ever SAFF title, becoming only the second team in the history of the tournament to win the trophy.

India

The Indian Women’s National Football Team are the most successful in the tournament. They have maintained undisputed dominance in the tournament since its inception, winning the title five consecutive times. The Blue Tigresses claimed victory in the 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2019 editions of the championship and reached the semi-final stage in 2022.

India won their first title defeating Nepal 1-0 in the final in 2010. Their best win in a final came against Nepal in 2014, thrashing them 6-0 in the final. They have been the most consistent team in the tournament, having never lost a final in which they participated.
