Sporting Club Delhi FC appoint Tomasz Tchorz as their new head coach

Tomasz Tchorz joins the Phoenix’s after a five-year term with Kerala Blasters
It is the dawn of a new era for the capital city as the newly rebranded Sporting Club Delhi FC has appointed the 33-year-old Polish tactician Tomasz Tchorz as their inaugural head coach ahead of the upcoming season.
After spending six years in the managerial role for Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters, the gaffer has now taken charge as Delhi’s first team manager, bringing in his proven experience to establish a competitive youth-centric unit for their debut season.
This project will be very interesting for me, for my development, to create something new, and to be an important member of the new project where I can give ideas and offer some solutions. People will listen to me, and we can try to evaluate solutions later. For me, this is a huge experience, and that is why I decided to join this club. – Tomasz on joining Sporting Club Delhi FC
Tomasz Tchorz’s managerial journey
The gaffer began his managerial journey in 2018 as the Assistant Coach for the Lithuanian side FK Riteriai. After a brief stint in Lithuania, Tomasz returned back to Poland, where he worked under Kibu Vicuna for Wisla Plock in the first tier. Later in 2019, he made his breakthrough move to India as the trusted right hand for Kibu Vicuna, for Mohun Bagan, where they managed to grab the I-League title for the Kolkata side.
After a remarkable season in the I-League, Tomasz Tchorz joined the forces of the ISL side Kerala Blasters FC, where he played a significant role in the club’s youth development system. Later, he was entrusted with the responsibility of managing the club’s reserve side, where he navigated the side to the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) final, which qualified them to face the Premier League Reserve sides in the Next Gen Cup.
“There are two cultures, one is the culture of chances and another is the culture of competition, and I prefer to create a culture of competition. I believe that young players, regardless of their age, can play. We will create opportunities for them.
Age is just a number. Of course, experienced players are important, but our objective is to promote talents and we want to do that in a proper way.” – the gaffer spoke on the youth development plans at Sporting Delhi FC
Stint at Kerala Blasters FC

Over his tenure with the Blasters, the manager has worked with seventeen young players, including the likes of Sahal Abdul Samad, Mohammed Aimen, Jeakson Singh, Sachin Suresh, Ayush Adhikari, Korou Singh and more, who later shone in professional football, both at the club level and for the national team. Ten of these seventeen players have risen in their ranks and now represent the senior team of the Kerala Blasters FC.
In the 2024-25 season, Tomasz assumed the role of Interim Head Coach of the Kerala Blasters FC following the mid-season departure of Mikeal Stahre. The Polish led the Blasters for the remaining 12 matches of the season, where he managed to average at 1.5 points per match, one of the record averages for the club ever since its inception, a performance which could have potentially placed them in the 4th position.
I had the privilege of working with the Kerala Blasters as the Interim Head Coach, and I finished the season with 12 games, which was quite successful.
I think we could have achieved a little bit more, but I am happy with this experience. Now that I am Red. Yellow is done, and we will be fighting for the best” – on his tenure at Kerala
Visions on the new challenge
” I spent six years in India. This is my seventh year. I would say I have spent 1/6th of my life in India. Though I am not half-Polish, half- Indian, a significant part of me is here. I was there at the Blasters, which is a big club with huge expectations.
I have to create that here. I want to create that kind of environment, I want to feel the pressure of a big club, big community and we will create it here step by step” – on his vision about the new project
Tomasz now brings in his tired and tested experiences to the young players of Sporting Club Delhi FC, where he will be playing a major role in the youth development and shaping the capital side into a competitive club and also play a major role in nurturing the young talents of the country.
Under the leadership of the gaffer, the club started their preseason preparations last week, and their first challenge will be the Super Cup, which is scheduled to take place later this month.
