Two ISL teams are looking to start their season with silverware.

Bengaluru FC and Mohammedan SC will both return to action after six months when they play each other at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on Thursday, October 30th, 2025.

Both sides were knocked out of the round of 16 of the previous edition of the Super Cup in April 2025. However, this tournament provides managers to test their players ahead of the long club football season in India.

The Blues had won the inaugural edition of the Super Cup, which was introduced to replace the Federation Cup, in 2018. They thumped East Bengal 4-1 in the final as Sunil Chhetri was given the golden boot for his six goals in the tournament. Mohammedan SC had won the Federation Cup twice but hasn’t managed to do the same with its reworked name.

Bengaluru FC have historically done well in continental competitions, famously reaching the final of the AFC Cup in 2016. However, since then, they have appeared only thrice, with the last feature as far back as 2020. The Blues have had no continental presence in the past five seasons.

Sunil Chhetri and co will be eager to bring back the culture of finishing high and qualifying for Asia, something that BFC had identified itself with in its final years with the I-League and initial years with the Indian Super League. However, the task is easier said than done, as Mehrajuddin Wadoo’s men will give it their all to spoil Bengaluru’s party.

Despite lifting the I-League in the 2023-24 season, the Black Panthers finished last in the ISL, losing 15 of their 24 fixtures. To bring the Mohammedan SC back to its days of glory, it has to try and win consistently. This sets up the match to be very interesting as both teams go into the torrid Goa weather with motivated muscles.
