The Super Cup will start on October 25 in Goa.

The football season in India is finally set to start with the Super Cup. The draw for the Super Cup are out as the groups have been finalized. 16 teams have been drawn into four groups. 12 ISL clubs are taking part in the premier Cup competition of India alongside four clubs from the I-League, the second division.

This edition of the Super Cup is highly anticipated, and with the delay in the commencement of the new Indian Super League season, the fans are starved of football action. The Super Cup will act as the curtain raiser for the next season in Indian Football.

Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in same group

The two arch-rivals from Kolkata have been drawn in the same group. Mohun Bagan are placed in Group A as the top seed in the tournament. The marquee clash in Group A will be the encounter between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.

This will be their first meeting after their clash in the quarter-final of the recently concluded Durand Cup. The Mariners will be looking to avenge the Durand Cup quarter-final loss. The other two teams in group A are Chennaiyin FC and Real Kashmir FC.

The Marina Machans will be seen in action for the first time since the end of the last season. Real Kashmir have made their way to the Super Cup as one of the teams that finished in the top four of the I-League last season.

Durand Cup champions drawn in Group B

Group B will be fiercely contested. It has teams like FC Goa, Jamshedpur FC, NorthEast United, and Inter Kashi fighting for the top spot in the group. The Gaurs are placed in group B as the top seed, similar to Mohun Bagan. The Durand Cup champions NorthEast United FC are also in this group alongside defending I-League champions Inter Kashi.

This will be the first proper tournament for Jamshedpur FC after the departure of Khalid Jamil from the club. The interim head coach, Steven Dias, will have the responsibility to steer the team. It is a great opportunity for Indian coach to establish his credentials.

Bengaluru FC in Group C

The former ISL Cup winners, Bengaluru FC, are in Group C. Several Indian internationals will be in action for BFC. They will face stiff competition from Punjab FC, Mohammedan SC, and Gokulam Kerala FC. The Malabarians were the fourth-ranked side in the 2024/25 I-League season.

Punjab FC and Mohammedan SC will be looking for redemption to start the new season after a poor show in the last Indian Super League season. Punjab finished in 10th position, whereas the newly promoted side from Kolkata ended at the bottom.

Islanders and Blasters to face off in Group D

Group D will be one to watch out for. Mumbai City FC and Kerala Blasters FC, two heavyweights, have been drawn in Group D. Both clubs had finished last season with underwhelming returns. The Super Cup will give them an opportunity to set the tone for the upcoming season.

The other two teams in Group D are Hyderabad FC and Rajasthan United FC. The I-League side from Rajasthan has been invited to the tournament after the withdrawal of Churchill Brothers, who finished as runners-up in the I-League last season.
