Mohun Bagan Player Ratings (By Soham)

Mohun Bagan Player Ratings

Here are the Mohun Bagan player ratings in the Kolkata Derby.

Vishal Kaith – 7/10

Vishal Kaith was kept busy all game by the likes of Miguel Ferreira, Hamid Ahadad, Naorem Mahesh, and Bipin Singh. He palmed away a shot from close range by Ahadad in the 60th minute and saved a header from Jay Gupta a couple of minutes later.

Mehtab Singh – 6.5/10

Mehtab Singh remained solid throughout the game. Bipin Singh remained mostly quiet on the left wing. However, he could not provide much going forward and was barely seen making runs on the overlap.

Alberto Rodriguez – 6/10

Rodriguez made a number of crucial blocks throughout the game, taking an early shot by the dangerous Ferreira’s shot onto his head. Rodriguez failed to make an impact from set pieces however, something he had made a name for last season.

Tom Aldred – 6.5/10

Tom Aldred was perpetually at loggerheads with Hamid Ahadad, which provided for exciting viewing. While defensively solid, Aldred received a wonderful opportunity to score in the 69th minute but headed wide. He also lost his cool on a number of occasions, giving away fouls.

Subhasish Bose – 6/10

Subhasish Bose went into the book early after an altercation with Ferreira, who troubled the Mariners in the first half. Bose was otherwise his usual trustworthy self, not letting Naorem Mahesh enjoy too much liberty at the right wing.

Lalengmawia Ralte – 7/10

The all-Indian Mohun Bagan midfield was up against an all-foreign East Bengal midfield, and struggled significantly in the first half.Apuia, however, kept his calm under pressure for major parts of the game. He managed to get a shot away on his left foot from outside the area, but it was straight at Prabsukhan Gill.

Anirudh Thapa – 6.5/10

Thapa was caught in the thick of things right from the beginning. While giving away the ball a lot, the conditions of the pitch made it very difficult for him to operate in the middle of the park.

He combined well with Apuia to contain East Bengal, but could not provide much going forward. His attempts at through balls were intercepted by Basim Rashid.

Sahal Abdul Samad – 6/10

Sahal was not his usual lively self today, failing to produce any of the flair and skill that we expect from him. Up against the likes of Rashid and Saul Crespo, Sahal was completely blunt.

Manvir Singh – 5.5/10

Manvir Singh faced a severe dearth of supply today. He did not find himself in a position where he could look up with acres to run, a position where he thrives most. The pouring rain and the uneven pitch made things progressively more difficult for the winger.

Liston Colaco – 6/10

Liston Colaco was livelier than Manvir in the match, but not enough to contribute to a goal. He managed to beat Mohammad Rakip on a few occasions, but could not produce much from it. He took a few free kicks as well, but they either struck the wall or were defended easily by the Red and Gold army.

Jamie Maclaren – 6.5/10

The fox in the box cut a lonely figure in the derby, with Bagan failing to extend the ball to the box for most of the game. The few times he received the ball were in moments of transition, which led to nothing. He did not press the East Bengal defence either as Sibille and Anwar Ali calmly rolled the ball around at the back.

Substitutes

Jason Cummings – 6/10

Cummings was suboptimal at best after coming on with half an hour to go. He struggled in wide positions and produced a solitary effort in the box, which was immediately blocked. His free kick went into the wall.

Petratos struggled to get on the ball and produce anything significant after coming on with ten minutes remaining.

Robson Robinho – NA

Robinho played on the left wing after coming on, but was very sloppy. He managed to get a shot away from close range but was ousted by a brilliant block from Anwar Ali.

Deepak Tangri defended with ease in the moments East Bengal waded forward.

Suhail Bhat – NA

Suhail Bhat was introduced deep into additional time remaining and couldn’t make a difference to the scoreline.
