Jamshedpur FC eye revenge of Super Cup final defeat against defending champions FC Goa

FC Goa scored a historic goal against Saudi giants Al Nassr in ACL 2
The vibrant sun-kissed plains of Margao gear up to host the two finalists from the last edition of the AIFF Super Cup. Home team FC Goa will begin their title defence against the same team, who they failed to beat twice in ISL last season, but Manolo had the last laugh when these two sides last met in the Super Cup Finals.
Despite the delay in ISL, both sides showed no signs of lethargy and made some good signings and also have been regularly training since the Durand Cup. The opening fixture in the Group of Death kicks off tomorrow as only one of the best four teams advances to the knockout round.
The Stakes
FC Goa

Defending champions, FC Goa couldn’t have asked for a better venue than playing at home to defend their Super Cup title. Head coach Manolo insisted that it is essential for Goa to regularly compete among the top competitions in Asian football to upgrade and evolve.
Goa did the unthinkable after defeating Omani outfit and former AFC Cup champions Al Seeb to make their way as the only Indian side in AFC Champions League 2. Though the Gaurs lost all of their three group games, they have produced many moments of magic and hopefulness in their campaign so far.
Gaurs will be determined to kickstart their title defence with a win over the Red Miners as every point in the group of death counts.
Jamshedpur FC
The Red Miners are entering the Super Cup as the reigning finalists and will be keen to turn the colour of their medal from silver to gold. A lot has changed since the Super Cup final defeat against Goa. Head coach Khalid Jamil made way for Steven Dias to pursue his national team ambitions.
Captain Javi Hernandez, along with two other foreign strikers, Jordan Murray and Javier Siverio, also left the club. The Red Miners bolstered their squad by adding Madih Talal, Messi Bouli and Stojanovic.
Jamshedpur FC won all of their group games inthe Durand Cup, but fell short to Diamond Harbour FC in the quarter finals at the Furnace. This will be the first major assignment under coach Dias, and he must show what it takes to emerge as the table topper in the Group of Death.
Team News
Despite Goa competing in ACL 2, they don’t have any injury concerns for the next game. However, there is uncertainty over Siverio’s fitness.
Steven Dias has a fully fit and available squad ahead of their first game of the campaign.

Key Players to Watch
Dezan Drazic (FC Goa)

Dezan Drazic, the Serbian winger has plied his trade with teams like Celta Vigo before making a move to Goa last season. He is a dominating presence in the wings and will be keen to light up the stands of Fatorda with his accelerated runs from the flanks.
Drazic has even the youth teams of the Serbian national team on several occasion and could be the X factor for Manolo against a team boasting of some defensive stalwarts like Stephen Eze and Lazar Cirkovic.
Madih Talal (Jamshedpur FC)
The French Moroccan attacking midfielder made a move from Kolkata to Jamshedpur and will be keen to score on his debut for the Red Miners. A classic no. 10, Talal is one of the most technically gifted players in Indian football and will be really impactful with his set pieces.
Jamshedpur relied a lot on set pieces last season and Javi perfectly operated in that number 10 role. This year, all eyes will be on Madih’s magic and if JFC can be a dominating team in the center of the park.
