Where to watch the second edition of Super League Kerala?

The Super League Kerala is back with a new season, and this time the league has a new broadcasting partner in Sony Sports Network. The franchise league made headlines in its inaugural season not just in Kerala but across India. Glitz, glamour, and most importantly, the breathtaking footballing action made Super League Kerala an exciting watch for Indian Football fans.

The state will find itself immersed in the fever of Super League Kerala again, which has some new faces ready to take the stage by storm. The franchises have made some box office signings that will take the fan engagement to another level altogether. The second season will kick off on October 2 with a clash between Calicut FC and Forca Kochi, a repeat of the first season’s final.

Super League Kerala gets a new broadcast partner!

Sony Sports Network to broadcast Super League Kerala

Last season, the Super League Kerala made a strong debut with its matches being broadcast on the Star Sports Network, giving the tournament a nationwide platform and bringing Kerala’s football culture into living rooms across the country.

The exposure not only boosted the league’s popularity but also highlighted the potential of regional franchise football in India. However, for the upcoming season, the broadcasting rights have shifted to the Sony Ten Network, marking a significant transition for the league.

In its inaugural season on the Star Sports Network, the Super League Kerala struggled to find its place, with greater emphasis given to cricket and Pro Kabaddi coverage. However, the league’s move to Sony Sports Network this year could prove to be a turning point.

Sony, having recently lost broadcasting rights to WWE and the Saudi Pro League, is expected to place stronger focus on its existing football portfolio, which currently includes the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. This shift opens the door for Super League Kerala to receive enhanced visibility and dedicated marketing.

Given Sony’s track record of delivering high-quality broadcasts for the Durand Cup in recent years, fans can anticipate a similar standard of coverage for Kerala’s very own football league.

Who will win the Super League Kerala this season?

Calicut FC etched their name in history as the inaugural champions of the Super League Kerala last season. The side dominated the six-team league stage before edging past Thiruvananthapuram Kombans 2-1 in a tense semifinal to book their place in the grand finale.

In the title clash, Forca Kochi pushed them all the way, but Calicut FC’s disciplined defensive structure and clinical finishing secured a 2-1 victory. A raucous crowd of more than 35,000 at the EMS Corporation Stadium celebrated as their home side lifted the trophy, along with a prize cheque of ₹1 crore.

As the second season approaches, the reigning champions now carry the expectations of defending the title. The other five teams will be determined to avenge last year’s setbacks, aiming to dethrone Calicut FC and stake their own claim to glory in Kerala’s growing football spectacle.
