The hosts almost ran away with the win but the visitors left it late to equalise.

The EMS Corporation Stadium was buzzing with energy as Calicut FC took on Thrissur Magic FC in the tenth match of Super League Kerala. Calicut FC, playing on their home turf, were eager to secure their first win in front of their loyal supporters, who filled the stadium with excitement and passion. Despite strong performances in previous matches, the home side had yet to register a victory at the EMS Corporation Stadium, making this clash crucial for both morale and momentum.

On the other side, Thrissur Magic FC entered the game equally determined to bounce back from a difficult start to the league. Without a win so far, Thrissur needed a victory to reignite their campaign and stay competitive in the league standings. With a strong contingent of fans backing them, they were ready to fight for their first three points.

Match Report

Thrissur Magic FC started the match with urgency, fully aware of the need for a win to keep their hopes alive in the Super League Kerala. Giovanni Scanu’s side adopted an all-out attacking approach in the opening minutes, making multiple dangerous incursions into Calicut FC’s box. Despite their unbeaten record in the league so far, Calicut FC found it difficult to maintain possession and establish control in the early stages of the game.

Calicut looked to their young talent, Gani Ahmed, to spearhead their attack, but they struggled to create significant chances against a well-organized Thrissur defense. In the 38th minute, Thrissur came close to breaking the deadlock when Brazilian forward Marcelo Toscano nearly found the net, but the opportunity went begging.

Determined to gain an edge before the halftime whistle, Calicut FC responded with a slick one-touch passing move between captain Jijo and Gani Ahmed, surging into Thrissur’s box. Jijo’s powerful shot narrowly missed the target, grazing past the post. Despite both teams’ efforts, the first half ended in a goalless draw, leaving the fans eager for a breakthrough in the second half.

Calicut FC came out in the second half determined to find the back of the net. Just four minutes in, Britto dribbled past several Thrissur defenders and fired a powerful shot that was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Jaimy. However, Calicut’s Riyaz was perfectly positioned to tap the rebound into the net, giving the home team the lead in the 49th minute.

Following their first goal, Calicut dominated the game, not allowing Thrissur any opportunities to respond. Thrissur’s Adil and captain CK Vineeth attempted to create chances, but Calicut’s defense, led by the imposing Richard, stood firm and denied their advances. In the 81st minute, Calicut doubled their lead when Britto found the back of the net, seemingly sealing the win for the home side.

However, Thrissur Magic FC had other plans. After conceding two goals, manager Giovanni Scanu made attacking changes, bringing even their captain and stopper Mailson Alves forward in a last-ditch effort. Their relentless pressure paid off in stoppage time when Brazilian substitute Uelber Silva, who had replaced captain Vineeth, scored a stunning goal in the 91st minute.

With the momentum in their favor, Thrissur continued pressing high for an equalizer, and in the 96th minute, defender Lucas Eduardo Silva struck, completing a remarkable comeback. The match ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw, with Thrissur Magic FC showcasing their resilience and flair at EMS Corporation Stadium.
