Super League Kerala 2026: Updated points table, top scorers after Calicut FC vs Malappuram FC
Calicut FC continue their unbeaten streak in the Super League Kerala Malabar Derby
The Super League Kerala 2026 Malabar derby lived up to expectations. Calicut FC clinched a thrilling victory against Malappuram FC (4-3 on penalties) on the 2nd of October, 2026 at the EMS Corporation Stadium, Calicut, as a part of the second match of Round 2 fixtures of the Super League Kerala 2026.
The game ended 1-1 at full-time and went to penalties under the league’s new 3-2-1 points system, with the hosts snatching a 4-3 victory.
Malappuram looked better in the first half, created plenty of chances, and almost came close to taking the lead. But to the visitors’ dismay, almost all their attempts were thwarted by the Calicut goalkeeper Mirshad, who stood strong and steady between the sticks.
After the goalless first half, Malappuram took the lead shortly after the hour mark courtesy of Daniel Lalhlimpuia, who scored a smart right-footer. Calicut, desperate for a goal, found the equaliser in the 79th minute when Federico Boasso sent a beautiful cross into the box, which Leo David was quick to find the net with an angled shot.
In the penalties, Malappuram FC made two unfortunate misses, paving the way for Calicut FC to seal the victory and continue their five-match unbeaten streak in the Super League Kerala.
