Super League Kerala 2025: Thrissur Magic FC vs Forca Kochi FC Preview, team news, lineups & prediction

Thrissur Magic edged past Forca Kochi 1-0 in their previous Super League Kerala encounter

Thrissur Magic FC is all set to lock horns with Forca Kochi FC in the first matchday of the penultimate Round 9 fixtures of the Super League Kerala 2025. The match is scheduled to kick off on the 27th of November, at the Corporation Stadium, Thrissur.

Both teams, with contrasting seasons so far, have their destiny decided in the Super League Kerala. Thrissur Magic FC, currently sitting in second position, has almost secured their qualification to the semi-finals. Forca Kochi FC, on the other hand, having lost all their seven matches, finally managed to grab a win in their Round 8 fixtures, and with 3 points, they are at the bottom of the table with playoff hopes extinguished.

In their last encounter, it was Thrissur who had the final laugh at the Maharajas Ground, defeating the hosts with a narrow 1-0 margin. With Thrissur eying a win to become the second team to secure their berth in the playoffs, and Kochi aiming to end their season on a positive note, the Super League Kerala clash between the two motivated sides would be an interesting one to watch.

The Stakes

Thrissur Magic FC

Thrissur Magic FC, with four wins, two draws and two losses are currently placed in the 2nd position with 14 points. Though they have almost ensured qualification, they would be looking forward to grab all three points in their match against Forca Kochi FC, which would take them to 17 points. This will officially ensure their place in the semi-finals, making them the second team to qualify for the playoffs, after Calicut FC.

In their previous match against the strong Kombans, Thrissur were seen approaching the match more defensively. However, Forca Kochi being the relatively easier side, could posses a much lower threat to the Magicians. For this reason, they must aim for all three points, which could prevent any last minute upsets and ensure their playoffs spot.

Forca Kochi

Forca Kochi, having lost all their matches till Round 7, finally came back to winning ways after a dominating 4-1 victory against Kannur Warriors FC. For the visiting side, there are pretty much nothing in stake as they have been already out of the qualification race in the Super League Kerala 2025.

Therefore, Forca Kochi, being the less favourite among the two, would be looking forward for a positive result which could end their season on a higher note. Being the side with nothing to lose, if Kochi can pile pressure upon Thrissur, who are still looking for their playoff spot, they could potentially turn the tables and leave the pitch with a historic win.

Team News

The Forca Kochi FC striker, Gino van Kessel, suffered a hamstring injury in their previous match against the Kannur Warriors and was subbed off in the first half. The availability of the player for the Super League Kerala match between Thrissur Magic FC is yet to be known.

Apart from that, both Forca Kochi FC and Thrissur Magic FC are expected to have their full roster for the match for their Round 9 fixtures.

Player To Watch Out For

Thrissur Magic FC – Kamaludheen

The Magicians U23 goalkeeper, Kamaludheen A K, has emerged as the cornerstone of their resilient defensive setup in the Super League Kerala 2025. Apart from Thrissur’s strong attacking unit, Kamaludheen’s consistent performances have played a significant contribution in the Magicians being in the top two.

In five appearances, the keeper has held three clean sheets, made more than a dozen key saves, and has only conceded two goals so far. This excellent performance between the sticks for Thrissur Magic FC in the Super League Kerala earned him a worthy call-up under head coach Naushad Moosa for the India U23 probables for the match against Thailand. The keeper, has now joined the Thrissur camp and if he could stay alert and make vital saves, he could potentially be the difference maker.

Forca Kochi – Nijo Gilbert

Nijo Gilbert, the 25-year-old striker for the Forca Cruz have been arguably one of their only bright sparks for Forca Kochi in the Super League Kerala. With two goals and two assists so far in the tournament, Nijo is the top goal contributor for his side and is currently placed 7th in the race to the Golden Boot. With an impressive ability to make some good movements with the ball and challenge the opponents, Nijo has created trouble for the opponents and is the key player to watch out for the match against Thrissur Magic FC.

In their previous match against Kannur Warriors FC, Nijo was named the man of the match for his two stunning goals that helped Forca Kochi to clinch their first victory in the Super League Kerala 2025.
