Why were Super League Kerala 2025 playoffs cancelled?

Calicut FC are the Super League Kerala table toppers at the end of the league stage matches.

After two months, thirty intense matches, the Super League Kerala group stage fixtures have come to a culmination. While the tournament has given the fans some stunning goals, breathtaking saves and some thrilling encounters, it is the impressive individual performance of a few players that has changed the script and produced results for their sides.

Though all the players gave their hearts out for their clubs to be named the champions of Kerala, there have been some key performers who rose above the others and became the headlines for their side. Here is a look at the top performers for each club during the group stage fixtures of the Super League Kerala.

Calicut FC – Muhammed Ajsal

As the 2025 season of the Super League Kerala moves into its knockout phase, one name that continues to dominate conversations across the league is Muhammad Ajsal. Ajsal, the loanee from Kerala Blasters FC, was loaned to Calicut FC to earn some competitive minutes on the pitch. However, what he has delivered is a statement of readiness.

The 22-year-old has been the bright spark of the Super League Kerala, instrumental in crafting important wins for Calicut FC. Ajsal notably scored the first hat-trick of this season after netting in three goals at the Maharajas Ground to trash Forca Kochi 6-2. The forward has scored almost one-third of the total goals scored by Calicut so far. Ajsal had also been leading the golden boot race for the vast majority of the season, until he was dethroned by Kennedy in the final match.

Thrissur Magic FC – Mailson Alves

The two-time ISL-winning defender Mailson Alves has created history as a captain for Thrissur Magic FC. With his impressive ability to break the attacks of the opponents and also display his attacking prowess, Mailson has displayed an all-around performance for the Magicians so far. The veteran, along with his Indian backline, has created a strong defensive unit that has only conceded 7 goals so far, the lowest goals conceded by a team in the Super League Kerala 2025.

Along with marshalling the defence and keeping the backline impenetrable, Mailson has ventured deep into the final third and displayed his uncanny ability to score during set-pieces, rising above the opponents. The defender has scored two out of the eight goals scored by Thrissur Magic FC, one notably against the table-toppers, Calicut FC, which helped earn the breakthrough win for the Magicians.

Malappuram FC – John Kennedy

The Brazilian striker of Malappuram FC has been exceptional in the league so far. With 8 goals in ten games, Kennedy has single-handedly cruised Malappuram to the playoffs after whacking in goals whenever it mattered the most. With 8 goals in ten matches, Kennedy is currently the top scorer of the Super League Kerala 2025 and has overthrown Ajsal from the top of the golden boot race.

In their game against Calicut FC, it was Kennedy’s goal that secured a vital equaliser for Malappuram. Later, against Forca Kochi, he scored a brace to secure the 4-1 victory. In the final matchday, a hat-trick scored by Kennedy confirmed Malappuram’s spot in the playoffs. This also marked the first-ever qualification for Malappuram FC in the Super League Kerala playoffs.

Kannur Warriors FC – Muhammed Sinan

The U23 striker of Kannur Warriors FC is yet another bright spark created by the Super League Kerala. Sinan has an uncanny ability to create some excellent moves in the final third to pile pressure upon the opponents and force errors from them. Sinan has also excellently combined with his Spanish teammates, Asier Gomes and Adrian Sardinero, to significantly add to the work of the opponents.

This has seen the player score three goals and provide three assists for his side. Sinas was also notably the first player in the history of the Super League Kerala to score a goal at Kannur Warriors’ home ground, Jawahar Municipal Stadium. The young talent is currently the top goal scorer for his side after the Round 10 fixtures.

Thiruvananthapuram Kombans – Autemar Bispo

Autemar Bispo was the best player for the Kombans in the previous edition of the Super League Kerala. The striker netted three goals, which made him the second-highest goal scorer in the league. This impressive performance led to the striker being retained by the Kombans for the second season. This season, Autemar’s performance was nothing short of the last year.

With four goals, Autemar was the top scorer for the Kombans this season and the third-highest goal scorer of the league, at the end of group stage fixtures. Exerting his physical dominance throughout the minutes played on the pitch, Autemar was a valuable asset for coach James McAloon in deploying his strategies.

Forca Kochi FC – Nijo Gilbert

Nijo Gilbert could be the only Forca Kochi FC player who had a relatively positive performance in the Super League Kerala. Forca Kochi, after a disappointing season with just one win in their ten games, finished bottom of the table with just three points to their name. However, Nijo Giblert, the former KSEB striker, was able to display his share of contributions and provide Forca Kochi FC with their solitary win of the Super League Kerala 2025.

In their only winning match against Kannur Warriors FC, Nijo Gilbert scored two goals, one in the first half and the other early in the second half, to break the unbeaten streak of Kannur Warriors FC. Nijo also has the highest goal contributions in the season with two goals and two assists.
