All matches & results of Indian football team in 2024

The Blue Tigers haven’t had a very bright year in terms of their competitive results.

The Indian football team recently underwent a change of leadership as Igor Stimac was removed from the head coach position following the side’s failure to qualify for the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and a poor run in the AFC Asian Cup earlier this year. Former Hyderabad FC and current FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez was appointed to take over the Croatian’s duties. 

Following the change, India took on Syria and Mauritius in the Intercontinental Cup 2024, hosted in Hyderabad in September. Manolo Marquez came under fire following the Blue Tigers’ lackluster display which saw without a win and could only manage a draw and lose the other match in the two games, without being able to score a goal as Syria took home the trophy.

While India seemed to terribly miss the leadership and presence of former skipper Sunil Chhetri. Marquez has made some changes to his squad selection ahead of his next international assignment. The Blue Tigers will be up against Vietnam on 12th October in a one-off international friendly, with the Spanish tactician looking for a reversal of fortunes. 

Another burning concern for India is their toothless attack, and Manolo Marquez must address the same as quickly as possible to start off preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Vietnam will not be taking this game lightly either, as they will also be gearing up for the ASEAN Championship late in December.
