The Indian football team will look to improve their record against their neighbors.

After a dreadful year, the Indian Football team will be keen to start 2025 on the front foot when they take to the field in the third-round qualifiers of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

The Blue Tigers have been placed in Group C alongside the likes of Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangladesh, interestingly, India are the highest-ranked side and the favorites to qualify for the Continental showpiece in Saudi Arabia.

They will begin their campaign on March 25, 2025, with a home clash against neighbors Bangladesh before taking a trip to Hong Kong in June. Manolo Marquez’s men will play a home and an away game each against Singapore in October and then Bangladesh in the last international window of 2025 in November.

They will then host Hong Kong in their final group stage game to wrap up their campaign. Everything is in India’s favour.

Be it the opponents, their chances to qualify, or their records, everything indicates that India is in pole position to secure a ticket to Saudi Arabia. But, it remains to be seen if they can do it the right way and give their fans a reason to cherish.

Out of all the three teams, India have faced off against Bangladesh on most occasions. Bangladesh is a familiar opposition for the Tigers having played 31 games against them. The upcoming game will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2021 when they last faced off in the 2021 SAFF Championship.

Bangladesh will not be an easy opposition by any means and bring a lot of danger to the table. They have gone toe-to-toe and have put up a strong fight in their last few matches against India.

But, they will need to be vary of the fact that the last time they came up with a win against the Blues Tigers was more than 25 years ago in 1999. They have drawn eighth and have lost six ever since.

India vs Bangladesh: All-time head-to-head record

Total matches played: 31

India wins: 16

Draws: 13

Bangladesh wins: 2

India are way ahead of their counterparts in terms of head-to-head statistics with 16 wins while Bangladesh have won only twice. However, the remaining 13 games have ended in a stalemate.

The Blue Tigers have played out four draws and a win in their last five meetings which speaks volumes about their inability to convert their draws into wins.
