Brazil to send their ‘A’ team for India friendly in Kolkata

World Cup giants will face Blue Tigers on October 3.
Brazil will send their strongest available squad to India when the five-time FIFA World Cup winners take on the Blue Tigers in a historic international friendly at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata on October 3.
According to a Times of India (TOI) report, the agreement between the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) requires Brazil to field their ‘A’ team during their India visit. That means Indian fans could witness some of the biggest stars in world football in action on home soil.
The blockbuster fixture was officially confirmed by the AIFF and the CBF on Thursday, bringing an end to weeks of speculation. The match is expected to be one of the biggest international football events ever staged in India.
Brazil’s Asia tour will end in Kolkata

The India fixture forms part of Brazil‘s Asia tour during the September-October FIFA international window.
The Seleção will first travel to Australia, where they are scheduled to play two friendlies on September 25 and September 29, before flying to Kolkata to face India on October 3.
The TOI report states that organisers are expected to spend around ₹60-70 crore to host Brazil’s visit. The contract also reportedly ensures that the same senior squad travelling for the Australia fixtures will feature against India.
For Indian football, it represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to compete against one of the sport’s most decorated national teams.
Busy international window for the Blue Tigers
India’s schedule during the September-October FIFA window is packed.
The Blue Tigers are also due to participate in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, which runs from September 21 to October 6. That overlap raises questions over squad management, although reports say India are expected to field their strongest available team against Brazil.
Following the historic clash in Kolkata, India will travel to New Zealand in November for two international friendlies before attention turns to the SAFF Championship later in the year.
