The Indian Football Team will play the third-place match in the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 against Oman at Hisor Central Stadium in Tajikistan. The match will kick off at 5:30 PM IST. This will be the last fixture of the tournament for both sides. Oman and India finished as runners-up in Groups A and B, respectively.
Oman won two of three group stage matches while the Blue Tigers had mixed results. The Khalid Jamil-led side started the tournament with a historic win against Tajikistan, but the form dipped in the following two games against Iran and Afghanistan.

India aim to improve their record against Oman

The Blue Tigers have historically struggled against Oman. The West Asian side and the Blue Tigers have played 10 matches against each other, with the latter winning on only one occasion. Oman have won six of those ten matches while three have ended in a draw.
This record does not sit right with the ambitions of Khalid Jamil. He would like to introduce a shift in this rivalry with a positive result this time. Jamil did something similar against Tajikistan in the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 opener. The Blue Tigers had not defeated Tajikistan in 17 years, but the newly appointed head coach ended that drought with a remarkable 2-1 victory in front of a hostile crowd.
The last meeting between the two sides was in 2021, just after the pandemic break. Oman started strongly in that match as well, but India mustered the courage to find the equalizer to end the match in a stalemate. Manvir Singh proved to be the saviour for the Blue Tigers in that contest with a brilliant header to bring the match to parity.
This time also the forwards will be expected to make inroads. However, the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 has not been rewarding for the forwards. The Blue Tigers have failed to make an impact in terms of their attacking play. Oman will pose a stiff challenge, but Khalid Jamil would want his boys to counter this challenge with aplomb.
