India lose their final match in the Sept-Oct International Window.

The Blue Tigers lost against two time World Cup Champions Uruguay on 6th October, 2026 at the VYBK in Kolkata. Diego Forlán’s team put 6 past India, while conceding only once during the game.

This match marks the end of the international window for India, as Indian fans now look forward to start watching the Indian Super League (ISL), starting from 10th October, 2026.

Even though Uruguay scored in the 11th minute, rom kick-off till the end of the first half, the Blue Tigers ensured to make their intent clear, which was to fight and to win. The team played with courage in the first half, which led to Anirudh Thapa scoring India’s equalizer, and only goal, during the match.

At the end of the first half, Uruguay stayed 2-1 up, due to goals from Darwin Núñez & Maxi Araujo. After the second half started, it seemed almost as if India had lost their spark, as they went on to concede 4 goals in the second half. The remaining goal scorers for Uruguay were, Rodrigo Zalazar, Maxi Aruajo (again), Juan Sanabria & Rodrigo Aguirre.

The fans of Indian football have mixed reactions regarding the match and the entire international window itself. Some fans are delighted by the brave fight that the Blue Tigers put up against difficult opponents, while some fans criticized India’s decision to pull out of the FIFA ASEAN Cup just to end up being humiliated against World Class teams.

During the entire window, India managed to score only 2 goals from 3 matches, 1 against Panama and 1 goal against Uruguay.
