On 25th September, 2026, India played against Panama for the first time in a historic match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
The match saw the Blue Tigers go ahead in the match in the 41st minute of the game with a goal courtesy of Bengaluru FC’s Ryan Williams. India showcased what they are capable of at their best. Los Canaleros could not score a goal until the 68th minute of the game when Omar Valencia took a long shot from outside of the box, which Indian Custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu could only be an audience to.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw despite multiple close chances from both teams. Despite the Blue Tigers being ranked 94 positions lower, India played as if Panama were just a normal average opponent. Most Indian fans were very proud of the way the team played considering most of the India team players hadn’t played a match in the pre-season
Most Panamanian fans are disappointed with the result, with some defending the team by saying that Panama were playing with 9 debutants or that India got lucky.
Panama head coach Thomas Christensen also found himself receiving most of the blame for the draw. In an attempt to soften the blow of a draw, some fans made sure to criticize the social conditions of India instead.
