Thailand's top five players who could shine against India in upcoming friendly clash

The friendly clash is set for 4th June 2025
India will return to action on June 4 (2025) when they travel to face Thailand in an international friendly game. This will serve as a warm-up match to the upcoming AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Hong Kong, with the Blue Tigers looking to gain some momentum for that clash by defeating the War Elephants at their own yard.
However, Manolo Marquez’s side will face a stern test against Thailand, who have started to impress under their Japanese manager, Matasada Ishii. Thailand will also be looking to get a big win to improve their momentum ahead of their next AFC Asian Cup qualifier and get revenge over India for losing the last two games against the Blue Tigers.
The War Elephants are blessed with a number of quality players who are definitely capable of taking the game away from the Blue Tigers. Here we look at the five Thai players to watch out for against India.
5. Ekanit Panya
Ekanit Panya’s impressive work earned him a loan move to Japanese second division side Ehime FC until the end of 2025. He has made four appearances for them so far this year and remains an unpredictable threat in the attacking midfield role. The 25-year-old is a versatile player, being able to slot into the left-wing role with ease, too.
He has made 27 appearances for Thailand so far, scoring two goals and providing five assists in that duration. He is blessed with a positive spark in his style, allowing him to outwit opposition players with his clever movement, link-up play and creativity. He will look to unlock the Indian backline with his smart passes and help Thailand take the fight to the visitors.
4. Supachai Chaided
With the absence of striker Patrik Gustavsson, the War Elephants are likely to rely on their in-form striker Supachai Chaided to lead their line against India. The 26-year-old Buriram United striker is coming off a prolific 2024/25 campaign with Buriram United, helping them win the Thai League 1 title in style.
He scored 10 goals in 28 games for them en route to their title-winning campaign and scored 17 goals as well as providing 11 assists in 55 appearances for Buriram across all competitions. Chaided is a menacing force in the frontline, as his clever off-the-ball movement and ability to deceive defenders help him get an edge.
He has scored seven goals in 41 matches for Thailand so far and will look to use his efficient finishing skills as well as smart positioning in the box to add more goals to his international tally.
3. Jaroensak Wonggorn
JaroenSak Wonggorn has proven himself as a really promising attacking player in the Thailand football scene, with his speed and tenacity in the opposition half impressing many. He actually earned a loan move to Japanese top division side Cerezo Osaka, until the end of June 2025. He’s actually had a decent outing for the Japanese side, with one goal and an assist for them in two appearances so far.
The 28-year-old is a versatile enough player who can play all across the attacking line, which includes as an attacking midfielder, winger or even centre-forward. Wonggorn might have just two goal contributions in 17 games for Thailand, but remains a tenacious threat who can really stretch the Indian backline.
The 28-year-old will look to drive his side forward into the key areas, deliver quality passes into the final third and help them box out the Indian players into uncomfortable positions.

2. Supachok Sarachat
The 27-year-old forward’s impressive work in the Thailand football scene earned him a move to Japanese second division club H.C. Sapporo in 2023 and he’s been playing for them in recent years. In fact, he’s made 70 appearances for the Japanese club and managed 25 goal contributions (12 goals, 13 assists) in that period.
Supachok is a regular for the War Elephants, showcasing impressive consistency with his bright, energetic performances for them too. He can play anywhere across the frontline, but really thrives in the left-wing position as that allows him to really drive at defenders, show off his dribbling skills and sheer speed to glide past opposition players.
Sarachat will need to be at his efficient best to help Thailand take the fight to India and trouble their backline. He’ll look to make clever forward runs through the channels, create chances and also drift into central areas to aim a powerful shot at the goal.
1. Chanathip Songkrasin
The Thailand skipper Chanathip Songkrasin remains their commander in the midfield and someone who tends to motivate everyone around him with his dazzling style. Songkrasin is the most experienced player in the current Thailand squad with 70 caps to his belt and is well accustomed to exactly what it takes to thrive at the international stage.
He enjoyed an impressive 2024-25 season with Pathum United, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists in 37 games in all competitions. Songkrasin will be looking to bring that form to the international level by running the show for the War Elephants. He will be determined to constantly win back the ball in key areas and march his side forward with his clever forward passes and open up space for teammates.
Songkrasin will look to take control of things inside the Indian half, play unpredictable passes into the key areas to create chances and also sneak into key areas to enhance his side’s goalscoring ability.
