The group stage of the AIFF Super Cup has witnessed some remarkable performances from the players. The semi-finalists have built their foundation on these impressive individual outings, making the tournament a spectacle. In this article, we will look at the top 5 players from the AIFF Super Cup group stage.
Koldo Obieta

The newest arrival in the Indian Super League has taken the Super Cup by storm with his goal-scoring form. Koldo Obieta did all he could to push Kerala Blasters FC to the knockouts, but the club faltered at the last step against Mumbai City FC.
The Spanish target man has scored three goals in three group stage matches, maintaining his flawless record in the competition. Obieta opened his account in the first game against Rajasthan United and followed it up with a brace against Sporting Club Delhi. His failure to convert chances against Mumbai City FC cost Kerala a spot in the knockouts.
Borja Herrera

FC Goa secured their qualification to the knockouts after their first two group stage fixtures against Jamshedpur FC and Inter Kashi FC. Borja Herrera played an instrumental role in marshalling Goa’s midfield, making his contributions in both defensive and attacking capacities.
Borja scored two goals against Inter Kashi in the second group stage fixture, pushing them ahead in the qualification race. Herrera’s performance in the midfield made the job easier for Manolo Marquez, who is aiming for another silverware in Indian Football.

Ryan Williams

The Indian international continued his good form in the AIFF Super Cup as he remained a consistent performer for his club. Ryan Williams played in a more central role for Bengaluru in the group stage, and that produced results for the club.
The 32-year-old paid off the trust shown by Gerrard Zaragoza as he scored two goals in the group stage. Not just goals, but Williams also made his presence felt with an assist, making it three goal contributions in three matches.
Dejan Drazic

The Serbian talisman showed how central he is to the success of FC Goa. Dezan Drazic again emerged as a star performer for the Gaurs, leading them to another knockout. To manage the workload, Manolo Marquez provided Drazic with the starts only in the first two group stage fixtures.
The Serbian did his job in those two appearances, pulling off tricks from his bag that stunned the opposition. Drazic started his Super Cup campaign with a goal against Jamshedpur FC in a 2-0 win. In the second match, he scored another goal and complemented it with an assist as well.
Sunil Chhetri

In BFC colours, the former India captain is showing no signs of slowing down. Sunil Chhetri did not start in any of the group stage fixtures but showed his worth coming off the bench. Gerrard Zaragoza knows what Chhetri can do when the opposition defenders are tired.
Coming off the bench, Sunil scored against Mohammedan SC in the opening group stage match. He found himself again on the scoresheet in the second match as he netted against Gokulam Kerala FC in a comfortable 4-0 win.
