India U17 Men’s football team set for two friendlies against Tajikistan

The friendlies are set to take place in Goa, India
The India U17 men’s football team is gearing up for two high-profile friendly matches against Tajikistan in Margao, Goa, both of which will be played behind closed doors. These matches, scheduled for January 29 and February 1, mark an important stage in the team’s preparation ahead of the AFC U17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Under the guidance of head coach Bibiano Fernandes, the young squad is looking to sharpen their skills, test tactical strategies, and gain valuable match experience against strong international opposition.
Importance of these friendlies

The upcoming fixtures serve as crucial warm-up games for the AFC U17 Asian Cup. India, having qualified after a successful campaign in Ahmedabad where the Blue Tigers finished ahead of Iran, Lebanon, Palestine and Chinese Taipei, are keen to maintain momentum and fine-tune their strategies.
Tajikistan, who secured their place in the tournament through the FIFA U17 World Cup 2025 qualification, will provide stiff competition, allowing India’s youngsters to test themselves against high-quality opponents. Both matches will be played behind closed doors, giving the coaching staff an opportunity to experiment with lineups and formations without external pressure.
