United Sports Club partners with Durgapur Heroes for youth developement
United Sports Club have been actively working for youth development in West Bengal.
In a historic move for football development in West Bengal, United Sports Club, led by president Nabab Bhattacharya, iconic Indian player Lal Kamal Bhowmick and Belgian head coach Steve Herbots, arrived in Durgapur for a friendly match against Durgapur Heroes.
The visit began a crucial partnership aimed at nurturing and selecting young talents from Durgapur Heroes.
Nabab Bhattacharya, driven by a vision to empower footballers from Bengal’s under-represented regions, stated, “We want to provide a platform for talented players from the interiors of Bengal who lack opportunities to showcase their skills.”
Herbots, the mastermind behind United Sports Club’s training philosophy, echoed Bhattacharya’s sentiment. “Our focus is on developing talent step-by-step, strengthening the grassroots of Indian football, especially in districts like Durgapur,” he explained. Herbots emphasized on the importance of player mobility, urging established clubs to release players who receive offers from bigger platforms.
Bhowmick, a legend of Indian football, addressed the growing trend of pay-and-play academies. “While infrastructure has improved,” he noted, “proper training is often lacking at many places.”
He elaborated on United Sports Club’s strategy: “We provide training session plans to coaches we appoint, ensuring everyone receives standardized training under coach Herbots’ guidance. We then closely monitor the progress of these young players.”
This partnership signifies a paradigm shift in talent scouting. United Sports Club is moving beyond established academies, venturing into districts to identify raw talent.
They aim to provide a nurturing environment where these young players can mature and showcase their abilities. The friendly match against Durgapur Heroes was a symbolic first step in this collaborative effort.
However, in a display of local dominance, Durgapur Heroes emerged victorious with a resounding 2-0 win. Jaginder Murmu and Raj were the scorers for the Durgapur side, finding the back of the net to secure a memorable victory.
Durgapur Heroes, with their motto of training kids in and around Durgapur through their camps, will provide a perfect platform for their young players to showcase their talent on a higher stage!
With this initiative, United Sports Club, under the leadership of Nabab Bhattacharya, Lal Kamal Bhowmick, and Steve Herbots, is poised to play a pivotal role in unearthing hidden gems from West Bengal’s football landscape.
Their commitment to talent development and regional representation, coupled with the determined spirit of Durgapur. Durgapur Heroes holds immense promise for the future of Indian football.
The partnership between these two clubs can potentially create a pathway for young footballers from Durgapur to reach new heights in the beautiful game.
