Vietnam squad for International friendly against India

Golden Star Warriors will face the Blue Tigers before participating in the AFF Championship competition.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said on October 5 that Korean coach Kim Sang-sik has called up 27 players to prepare for a friendly match against India. This International friendly fixture is on 12 October before their AFF Championship competition.
Numerous changes have been made to the Vietnamese team’s roster, most notably the return of standout players such as veteran scorer Nguyen Van Quyet, midfielder Le Pham Thanh Long, defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh, To Van Vu and Chau Ngoc Quang.
Manager Sang-sik also added youth to the team by bringing in U23 players like strikers Nguyen Dinh Bac, Bui Vi Hao and Nguyen Quoc Viet; defender Giap Tuan Duong; midfielders Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Van Truong and Nguyen Thai Son; and goalkeepers Nguyen Van Viet and Tran Trung Kien.
Although it’s a friendly match, it will be a good test for Vietnam to increase their confidence for the upcoming AFF Championship given their inability to win their past matches. They can capitalise on India’s poor performance who are winless in their last six matches.
Vietnam’s previous matches have seen them failing to secure a win as their only victory came against the Philippines. This was their solo victory in the last 10 matches which certainly raises questions about their performance.
After facing India they will start their AFF Championship quest. In that competition, their opening game will be against Laos on the ninth of December.
