The lethal forward entertained supporters and clicked pictures with them.
With less than a month to go for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 to kickoff, Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s Dimitri Petratos has been working hard, alongside his teammates. Now that Jamie Maclaren is here, the flexible attacker will have to adjust his playstyle once again to fit in alongside him and Jason Cummings.
But that didn’t stop the Australian from meeting his beloved fans right outside the training ground. The striker walked out amidst chants of “Dimi, Dimi!” clicking pictures with young fans and giving some autographs.
Petratos is one of the Mariners’ most loved players not just because of his cutthroat efficiency for the side in front of the goal, but because of his amicable demeanor. The humble Mariners’ star took to the pitch only a day after the Kolkata derby in a local football ground, located near the Salt Lake Stadium to play football with some of the younger supporters.
While he equally loves them back, fans were elated at the fact that he was so readily willing to play with them and enjoyed it thoroughly. Former Mohun Bagan centre-back Brendan Hamill also joined in on the fun back then.
Impact of Dimitri Petratos
Dimitri Petratos helped his side to the ISL League Winners’ Shield 2023-24 with a splendid 10 goals and seven assists. The previous year he already helped them win the ISL Trophy and this year he’ll be hoping to achieve a historic double with his side.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant are set to play East Bengal FC in the second Kolkata Derby of the season at the Salt Lake Stadium in the Durand Cup 2024 on Sunday.
A win will help Molina’s side make a statement ahead of the season, but Carles Cuadrat is also willing to risk it all for a win in the prestigious showdown. Petratos will be hoping to make an impact in the same and establish a blockbuster chemistry with Cummings, Maclaren, and Greg Stewart.
