Sergio Lobera is the only coach to win both the ISL Trophy and Shield.

Khalid Jamil was full of praise for Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera and his team ahead of Jamshedpur FC‘s upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) fixture against Odisha FC in Bhubaneshwar tomorrow. Khalid Jamil’s side is in exceptional form, having secured back-to-back victories in their opening two games, defeating formidable opponents like FC Goa and Mumbai City FC despite conceding first in both matches.

Jamil acknowledged the quality of Lobera’s team, known for their attacking flair and tactical discipline. However, he remains focused on maintaining Jamshedpur FC’s winning momentum and is optimistic about extending their winning streak to three games.

With confidence running high, Jamshedpur FC will aim to keep up their fine form and continue their impressive run in the ISL this season.

Khalid Jamil’s take

Khalid Jamil, known for his humility and tendency to deflect praises, acknowledged the contrasting forms of Jamshedpur FC and Odisha FC ahead of their highly anticipated ISL clash.

While Jamshedpur FC have enjoyed an exceptional start, winning both their opening matches against FC Goa and Mumbai City FC, Odisha FC on the other hand have struggled, failing to secure even a single point after losses to Chennaiyin FC and Punjab FC. Notably, Odisha’s unbeaten streak at home in the Kalinga Stadium was shattered in a 3-1 defeat to Chennaiyin on opening day, marking a difficult start for Sergio Lobera’s side.

Khalid Jamil said, “Odisha FC have a very good and experienced ISL coach in the form of Sergio Lobera. Their squads look deadly with a mix of extraordinary Indian and foreign players. They are winless and will be hungry for a win. We must stay focused and not take this match lightly.”

However, Jamil was quick to caution against underestimating Odisha FC. He emphasized that despite their poor form, they possess one of the strongest squads on paper, featuring a balanced mix of experienced and young players, both Indian and foreign. With a tactician like Sergio Lobera at the helm and an ISL veteran who has won both the ISL Shield and Trophy, Jamil believes Odisha remains a formidable force.

Jamil stressed the importance of Jamshedpur FC maintaining focus and concentration throughout the match, as Odisha FC, driven by their desire to bounce back, will be eager to secure their first victory. According to Jamil, with Lobera guiding them from the dugout, Odisha FC’s hunger for a win makes them even more of a dangerous opponent, and Jamshedpur must be at their best to continue their winning streak.
