The Indian Women’s Football Team clinched the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 lifting the title for the sixth time. It was a campaign to remember for the Blue Tigresses as they dominated their matches and defeated the defending champions, Bangladesh, with a scoreline of 3-1 in the final.

The Blue Tigresses showed belief and courage when they started the year at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, which was held in Australia. After that, they competed in the FIFA Women’s Series in Kenya and secured a third-place finish.

Later India won the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 at home in front of home supporters.

But what comes next? That remains the big question for the Indian women’s football team, having already completed all of their major tournament commitments this year.

Having completed their AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 campaign and the FIFA Women’s Series in Kenya, the Indian women’s team also ended their SAFF Women’s Championship campaign on a winning note.

The All-India Football Federation (AIFF) have not yet officially announced the fixtures ahead for the women’s team. The Indian women’s team are expected to return to action when the next international window starts in September.

Players such as Sanfida Nongrum, Aveka Singh, and Manisha Kalyan will once again be eager to represent the national colours.

However, as things stand, no major international friendlies or tournaments have been scheduled for the Blue Tigresses during that window after a busy year of competition already.

Recently, they played the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 which took place at PJN Stadium, Goa.

In front of the home crowd, the Blue Tigresses showed their class and secured the title as they beat the defending champions Bangladesh 3-1. From the first day of the SAFF campaign India looked very promising with their team.

The Blue Tigresses also bagged the third-place finish in the FIFA Women’s Series 2026 which was held in Kenya.

Four teams participated in the FIFA Women’s Series in Kenya. India suffered a defeat to the hosts in their opening match but bounced back strongly in the third-place playoff, defeating Malawi 3-2 to secure a third-place finish in the tournament.

Lastly, at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia, the Blue Tigresses were unable to progress beyond the group stage, bowing out of the tournament despite showing flashes of promise during their campaign.

Coached by Amelia Valverde, they lost all three games against Japan, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam. But the horrific loss against Japan with a score line of 11-0 was a devastating one to remember.

The Blue Tigresses impressed many fans with their performances, particularly in their final match of the tournament.

One of the standout moments came from Manisha Kalyan, who found the back of the net with a stunning long-range free kick.
