After that, he went on to manage lower-division clubs like, Barreirense, Penafiel, and Boavista and finally he got his first major coaching project of managing the Portugal U-17 team. Later on, he managed more youth teams in Portugal which included U-16 and U-18 teams. He became the manager of Beira-Mar but his team didn’t perform well and he resigned after a few months.

Philosophy

The Portuguese manager likes to play an attractive style of play and he is focusing a lot on possession and positional play. He likes to use the formation 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1, he also likes his team to build up from the back slowly as he wants his players to attract opposition to create space and then attack it.

Against strong and superior opposition he is more flexible enough to sit back and attack on counter. He does not shy away from compromising his philosophy to get results. Overall he is a coach who focuses more on tactics.
