Bartolomé “Tintín” Márquez López is the Qatar football head coach who has helped Qatar to reach a completely different level in Asian football.
After the 2022 World Cup disappointment, Tintin Marquez was hired to become the Head coach of the Maroons and till now he has been brilliant in his job as he led the Maroons to win another Asian Cup held in Qatar in 2024.
He is a very demanding manager who expects a lot from his players and has a strong personality with extensive football coaching experience.
Who is Tintin Marquez?
He is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder and currently serves as the manager of the Qatar national team. Mostly he played for second and third-division clubs in Spain. As a Football manager, he worked in Spain, Greece and Qatar.
Tintin Marquez has experience coaching youth teams, B teams, clubs and also the national teams. Overall he is a manager who has a lot of experience and has worked with many top players. As a player, he represented Spain at U-21 level. With his philosophy, he has helped Qatar to achieve greater heights.
Work Experience
Tintin Marquez retired at the age of 33, after a spell in the Segunda Division B with CE Europa. His first managerial stint was with Europe only and he worked there for one year. After that, he joined the Catalan giants Espanyol and worked four years in the youth teams.
After that, he worked two more years at the same club but this time he was the manager of the B team, and later on also became the Assistant and Head coach of Espanyol.
After that, he signed for Castellon but was released from his duties. He later joined Eupen the Belgian side but was released due to some undisclosed reasons.
Then later on joined the Qatari side Al-Wakrah where he managed for three years after that became the Qatar national Team manager where he led the Qatar team to win the Asian Cup at their home.

Philosophy
Tintin Marquez is from Barcelona and his philosophy is very similar to La Masia’s football philosophy, he likes his team to keep the ball possession and likes to play attractive and attacking football.
Mostly he uses 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 as a formation. He is a coach who demands a lot from his players, also he needs players with high technical skills and players with high game intelligence. He always sticks to his game plan no matter who the opponent are and likes to give young players opportunities.
Career Highlights
Márquez began working as a manager in 1997, his first stop being with his last club in the Tercera División. He won the Copa Catalunya that year, defeating Barcelona in the final. He was an assistant coach in the main team under Miguel Angel Lotina and Ernesto Valverde.
He joined the Qatar national team when there were doubts about the national team’s performance in the upcoming Asain Cup tournament but he led his team to win the Asain Cup for the consecutive time and helped the Qatar national team to improve their FIFA rankings.
