Which Indian players can make an impact off the bench against Kuwait?
Manvir and Brandon Fernandes can be influential for India off the bench.
Less than two hours before the most anticipated match of the year, the Indian football fans are just staring at the time with the clock ticking around every second. India’s match against Kuwait, slated to be played today, will be a huge attraction for every person who has ever been a football follower in the nation.
With just four points in four matches, the Indian team will be looking to better its position in the second qualifiers with another win against Kuwait. Importantly, a better farewell is expected to be given to the Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri, who has been an icon of the sport for more than a decade.
Although there is almost a predicted line-up for the Indian side which will start the proceedings at Salt Lake Stadium, there are certain players who can create an impact when they are replaced on the pitch during the game. This article will focus on those players who are capable of changing the game off the bench.
5. Edmund Lalrindika
One of the I-League players who had a huge impact in the I-league 2023-24 was Edmund Lalrindika. The 25-year-old Mizoram player tends to create chances instantly with some tactical moves.
Looking at his stats for the I-League season, it is clear that he not only possesses the skill to get his name on the list of assists but can also convert chances which is a plus factor for him and his team as well.

4. Manvir Singh
In India’s last match against Kuwait, Manvir was the player who scored the lone goal to help his side win the match. The goal to date remains the only conversion India has managed since their match with Kuwait.
As per reports, he won’t be on the starting list. But the form in the ISL was a highlight of his career. He will surely create an impact on the field once included in the team. Although he quite often loses possession, still his game is a threat to the opponent, as on his best day, he can outclass any team.
3. Jeakson Singh
Another midfielder who can create an impact for the side after coming from the bench is Jeakson Singh. The youngster has already played 19 matches for the national side since his debut in March 2021.
He proved his worth in the last two matches of India against Afghanistan where he was seen tirelessly making efforts in the midfield to create some crucial chances for the team. And when it comes to passing accuracy, Jeakson remains one of the best on the field, compared to some others.

2. Mahesh Singh Naorem
Mahesh Singh Naorem has mostly played as a left winger in the Indian side. He has even scored three goals for the nation, one of which has come against Iraq. Whether it’s a forward move or a game of blocking at the back line, Mahesh fairs well in both areas.
He has been a huge impact player for his club East Bengal FC in the last season and the national team will surely have a huge expectation from the 25-year-old player from Manipur. It will be interesting to watch when coach Igor Stimac puts him in the mix.
1. Brandon Fernandes
Brandon has been one of the players to watch in the recently concluded Indian Super League. While playing for FC Goa, he proved his worth as a midfielder with his time-to-time game awareness.
His move towards the front line will be a huge threat to the opponent. Moreover, he relies more on the long balls than short passes, which could be an added prospect towards the dying end of the match.
