In what is going to be the 407th time that these two teams have met each other, Mohun Bagan will take on East Bengal in the historic Kolkata Derby to decide who comes out on top of group A in the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26.

The match will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on Friday, 30th October, 2025 with kick-off scheduled at 19:30 IST.

Both teams have had interesting starts to their AIFF Super Cup campaigns, managing a win and a draw each. Both teams won against Chennaiyin FC and played out a draw against Dempo SC. This means that the final game will decide who qualifies for the semi-finals.

East Bengal enjoy a superior goal difference of +4 over Bagan’s +2. Thus, the Mariners will need a win to progress to the knockout stage while a draw will be enough for the Torch Bearers to top the group.

East Bengal’s shot at revenge

The Red and Gold brigade lost to the Green and Maroon army less than two weeks ago in the final of the IFA Shield and will be itching to exact revenge over their sworn rivals. The match went down to the wire with Vishal Kaith making a crucial save in the penalty shootout for the Mariners.

In recent years, Mohun Bagan have dominated the rivalry, especially since the teams got inducted into the Indian Super League. Of the 10 matches played in the league, Bagan have won 9, while one has ended in a draw.

However, East Bengal have slowly started to turn the tide in their favour. They managed back-to-back wins in 2025, first a 3-2 victory at the Calcutta Football League in July followed by a 2-1 win at the Durand Cup in August. And with wind in their sails from a 4-0 thrashing of Chennaiyin, East Bengal will fancy themselves over the ‘Boro Match’.
