Top five highest Indian goalscorers in Indian Super League history

Some of the most talented forwards in the country lead the Indian chart.
Since its inauguration in 2014, the Indian Super League has witnessed incredible forwards score a record-breaking number of goals. After the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, the Indian national team and Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chhetri reached the 51 goals mark. Apparently, he is the second-highest goalscorer in ISL history. Notably, Chhetri is also the highest Indian goalscorer of the competition.
He surpassed the benchmark set by Spaniard Ferran Corominas, who held the record for scoring the most number of goals (48) in the history of the ISL. Currently, Chhetri is just behind Bartholomew Ogbeche, who is now topping the chart with 53 goals.

Having said that, apart from Chhetri, many other Indian attackers have also scored a lot of goals for their respective teams. Even though most teams put their faith in foreign attackers, some Indian forwards broke through and showcased their goalscoring feats. Looking at the statistics, here are the top five highest Indian goalscorers in ISL history.
Manvir Singh - 15 goals in 92 matches
Plying for ATK Mohun Bagan, Manvir Singh is the fifth footballer in this list. He is in sublime form since 2020. In two consecutive seasons, he netted six goals each and took his tally to 15 in 92 appearances.
Singh has been playing in the ISL since 2017/18. Prior to joining ATK Mohun Bagan in 2020, the 26-year-old was playing for FC Goa. His goalscoring prowess wasn't witnessed during his stint at the club. But ever since joining the Mariners, he has kept on scoring.

Bipin Singh (Mumbai City FC) - 16 goals in 76 matches
Bipin Singh is one of the active players in this list. He is playing in the current season of the ISL for Mumbai City FC. The winger helped the outfit secure the ISL League Winners' Shield and the title during the 2020-21 season. He has managed 16 goals till now in 76 matches and will certainly add to his tally.
He is one of the most exciting wingers to watch because of his speed and tenacity. Bipin’s most important goal perhaps was the one he got in the final of the 2020-21 edition against ATK Mohun Bagan. A 90th-minute winner from him was enough to hand the title to the Islanders.
Lallianzuala Chhangte (Chennaiyin FC) - 20 goals in 97 matches
Indian international and Chennaiyin FC winger Lallianzuala Chhangte is up next in the rankings, with 20 goals to his name. He has played 97 matches in the competition and is heading towards a century of appearances, while being only 24-years-old. He is also a former NorthEast United and Delhi Dynamos/Odisha FC player.
In addition to scoring 20 goals, the pacy winger also has six assists to his name. On his day, Chhangte is one the most lethal wingers in the domestic circuit. However, his finishing lets him down occasionally. Despite that, due to his tenacity and an eye for goal, Chhangte is the third-highest Indian goalscorer in the history of the ISL.

Jeje Lalpekhlua - 24 goals in 76 matches
Jeje Lalpekhlua is the second-highest Indian goalscorer in the history of the ISL. The striker has 24 goals in 76 appearances. He represented SC East Bengal during the 2020-21 season, playing seven matches and scoring one goal, with one assist. Currently, he is without a club and cannot add to his tally of goals in the ISL.
Having said that, Jeje’s 24 goals remains a huge number. He is regarded as one of the best Indian forwards in the competition since its inception. What's more, the forward also has two ISL wins under his belt with Chennaiyin FC.

Sunil Chhetri (Bengaluru FC) - 51 goals in 114 matches
The highest Indian goalscorer in the history of the Indian Super League is unsurprisingly none other than Sunil Chhetri. Having an Indian player as the leading goalscorer of the ISL will be a moment of pride for the country.
Chhetri is a living legend. His contributions to Indian football are endless and each day he inspires more and more people. The forward has featured in the competition for Mumbai City, before joining Bengaluru FC. During the course of those 114 matches, Chhetri also has 10 assists and managed to lift the ISL in 2018-19 with BFC.
