It was another impressive home result for the Lions after a win over league leaders Bengaluru FC last time out.
A hard-fought showdown, the Indian Super League (ISL) fans experienced a tough game as Delhi Dynamos successfully stopped Chennaiyin FC at their own backyard. Although the game was majorly impacted by the overseas players, the Indian footballers also stepped up and helped shape the scoreline at the end of the game. Let’s find out how did the domestic players performed in last night’s game.
Watch: Delhi Dynamos 1-1 Chennaiyin FC highlights
Delhi Dynamos
Jayananda Singh – 6.5
The former Fateh Hyderabad footballer delivered a decent performance against Chennaiyin FC last night. While he successfully linked up with Romeo Fernandes upfront, the youngster tracked back quickly to defend against raging sudden attacks. Singh’s defensive performance included three blocks, four clearances and five interceptions which helped the Delhi side to recover from Defensive anomalies in the right side of the pitch.
Sajid Dhot- 5.5
Although the youngster started the match brightly, Dhot failed to live upto his expectations in the game. Dhot, along with Gabriel Cichero was handed the responsibility to mark opposition hitman Jeje Lalpekhlua, which he failed to continue successfully as the game developed. However, the defender was a handful while distributing passes from the back as he registered 77% pass completion rate. The former DSK Shivajians man was forced to go off the field as he picked up an injury shortly after the hour mark.
Munmun Lugun- 6.5
Most probably the best Indian defender for the Dynamos against the Machans. Lugun’s defensive record included 10 clearances, four interceptions and three blocks while also registering a 65% passing accuracy. He also linked up with Lallianzuala Chhangte well, helping the forward to launch sudden attacks to the Chennaiyin half.
Vinit Rai– 6.0
While Rai was effective on the ball for the Dynamos, his substitution in the 77th minute made the Dynamos midfield vulnerable in the dying minutes of the game. Rai’s vision to orchestrate the gameplay from the midfield helped the Delhi side to register 85% pass completion rate and his defensive ability included four important tackles which broke off opposition counter attacks throughout the game.
Romeo Fernandes- 6.0
A powerhouse for the hosts in the game against Chennaiyin FC. Fernandes contributed not only in the attacking runs but his defensive ability helped another youngster Jayananda Singh to recover and defend to the best of his abilities. The former FC Goa player also took six corner kicks and made three crosses, keeping the right wing effective against the Marina Machans.
Lallianzuala Chhangte– 6.5
Arguably the best Indian footballer for the Dynamos against Chennaiyin FC last night. The former NorthEast United wide player operated on the left wing against the Southerners and was a threat to the Chennaiyin defense throughout the game. The 20-year-old winger delivered some pinpoint crosses, most notably in the 14th minute where Kalu Uche was unable to convert it in a goal.
Substitutions
Rowlinson Rodrigues- 4.5
The 30-year-old defender came on for Sajid Dhot in the 70th minute. However, the former FC Goa and Mumbai City FC defender could not impact the game as much as his predecessor on the pitch as he fell victim to the opposition attackers as soon as he came in.
Seityasen Singh- N/A
Replaced Vinit Rai on the pitch but could not impact the game much.

Karanjit Singh- 7.0
The veteran goalkeeper displayed an amazing performance against Delhi Dynamos last night. His aerial abilities helped the Southerners many times in the game by not conceding any goals. He made four catches in the game, making a direct save which could have changed the flow of the game.
Keenan Almeida- 6.5
Almeida registered an amazing 81% pass completion rate in the game. Tasked with the distribution of the ball and breaking up opponent play, Almeida completed one block, seven tackles and six clearances which speak volume of his defensive contributions. Although he failed to match the trickery of Lallianzuala Chhangte, Almeida linked up with his side’s forwards well, making forward and diagonal passes to keep the feeding line on during the game.
Jerry Lalrinzuala – Arguably the best Indian defender for Chennaiyin FC last night. Operating as the left back, Lalrinzuala was effective against the likes of Romeo Fernandes as he kept the forward in contention throughout the game. He also defended successfully against Chhangte’s crosses multiple times in the game, which could have changed the flow of the game any time. Jerry registered a 77% pass completion rate and also created a chance but could not get into the assists’ chart.
Dhanapal Ganesh- 6.5
The 26-year-old had a hard time coping against the pace of the game last night. However, the defensive midfielder was handful for breaking up the Dynamos’ attacking runs in the midfield. He also took an active part in distributing the ball upfront, registering a staggering 86% passing accuracy at the end of the game.
Francisco Fernandes- 5.5
One of the few less active players on Chennaiyin against Delhi Dynamos. In the 79 minutes he was on, Fernandes made just 31 touches along with a cross and a tackle. Did not fare well against Munmun Lugun in front of him but was allowed to stay on the pitch until the dying minutes of the game.
Jeje Lalpekhlua- 6.0

Although the Mizo striker bloomed late in the game, he had a decent outing in last night’s game. Lalpekhlua was marked tightly by Gabriel Cichero and Sajid Dhot in the first half but managed to shake the duo off and made couple of forward passes for the other forwards. He also created a chance in the 45th minute but unfortunately could not register his name in the assists chart.
