The Lions' head coach revealed that he feels his side 'deserved' to win more games earlier this season.

Delhi Dynamos FC registered their second victory of the season, and the first of the new year, with a 2-0 victory over Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday. Goals from Gianni Zuiverloon and Rene Mihelic sealed the victory for the Lions. Lalruatthara was given his marching orders in the dying minutes of the match after he brought down Lallianzuala Chhangte inside the penalty box.

At the post-match press conference, Delhi head coach Josep Gombau shared his thoughts on the match. "I am happy with the result. I think that it was important for us to start after this break by winning. It is our first win at home also. All the boys wanted to win in front of our fans, and we are satisfied. Now we have two more days to prepare for the game against Goa," he said.

After a series of poor results, things are finally looking up for Delhi and Gombau stated that this has been a long time coming. "Honestly, we deserved to win games before. With our performance, we deserved to get three points. We have not made too many changes. We had some injuries and today we made a small change in formation," he said.

The Spaniard also had some warm words to share about his new signing Ulises Davila, who made his Hero ISL debut on Thursday. "Every game is different and depending on the players that are available, we change. We played with three at the back. Ulises also played very well. He is a very humble guy. All the boys are happy to have him here," he revealed.

From Kerala’s end, head coach Nelo Vingada was present to share his thoughts about the match. "It was a disappointing result. More than that, it was a very disappointing performance in the first 45 minutes. Our second-half was better. It is a heavy defeat according to what happened to the game. We have to change our attitude when we play in the Hero ISL," he said.
