Amidst their dismal performance the Stallions conceded thrice against the visitors in their first home game of the season.
An abysmal performance in their first home game and FC Pune City lost the encounter with Bengaluru 0-3 in a stretched match, as the visitors dominated and controlled the game without any leeway.
But this did not spoil the mood of the Pune gaffer as Miguel Angel Portugal calmly faced the media and kept a smile on his face throughout the press briefing.

When questioned about his style of play and on it being pointed out that it was very defensive he stated, “No, we changed to play 4-3-3. With Marcelihno, Diego (Carlos) and (Emiliano) Alfaro. Then we think we played better when we changed to 4-3-3. This means we had three or four chances to score a goal. The problem is how you must play.”
Then when pressed about the form of his keeper Vishal Kaith Portugal elaborated, “Well, we train him in keeping the distance. In the future, we train him more and more and more. What he trains and what he played was different.”
He also went on to share the grief he faced due to the absence of his wingers Ashique Kuruniyan and Nihkil Poojary from regular practice saying, “International players are training with me only 15 days because they are always out playing with the national team. That is a problem for me. We are including them in the team. Every match is a test for the player and the team.”
In closing, he spoke about Sunil Chhetri and his teammates as he lavished praise on them saying, “He is one of the best players in Bengaluru. Gurpreet (Singh Sandhu) is the best goalkeeper in India. They play very well as a team. Miku had two chances, he scored one goal.”

Carles Cuadrat entered the press room jubilantly as he proclaimed, “It’s a very nice result and it’s always good for the team to get a good result and keep a clean-sheet. It is the start of the season and we have to improve in some aspects going ahead.
“It’s a very good effort form the team. I am satisfied with the intensity of the players. They have been working very hard and have been giving their all for the team.”
He was quizzed about Udanta’s form and asked if he was worried by it to which he said, “Very happy with Udanta. Nothing to worry about. He is an important player in our team and he is going to play a big role for us.”
He also spoke about strikers missing chances and whether he was affected by it saying, “No no. Sometimes the ball is going inside sometimes it’s not. As a striker you are scoring every goal and sometimes you are missing easy goal and you get under all the pressure, so I am not bothering."
“For example Alfaro is doing a wonderful job, he is creating good chances, but he hasn’t scored in the season. But, once he is going to score he is going to net many goals.”
He concluded the press conference on a positive note praising his team's efforts saying, “Of course, the result is because of all the team. We didn't concede any goals today. I am happy with all the boys.”
