Indian Player Ratings: Ravi Kumar holds the fort as Mumbai City register easy win

The Islanders' custodian kept his team in contention despite facing multiple challenges. 

Mumbai City FC got back to the winning ways after a 2-0 win against Delhi Dynamos in the third home game of the season for the Islanders. Modou Sougou and Arnold Issoko managed to find the back of the net while Raphael Bastos failed to score from the penalty spot.

The star of the show though was the second choice keeper of the Islanders, Ravi Kumar. The keeper making his debut in this season's ISL ensured Mumbai City FC a clean sheet by keeping the crosses of Chhangte at bay. Below are the ratings for the Indian players involved in the game.

Mumbai City FC

Ravi Kumar- 9.0

Making his Indian Super League debut for Mumbai City, Ravi had a tremendous game and played with the confidence of a veteran and showed the agility that suits his age. Making saves and jumps and catches while making sure that his team cleared the lines, he might be giving Amrinder a run for his money in the starting XI.

Milan Singh– 7.5

Milan was on point and made sure he covered as much ground as he possibly could without losing steam and enduring through out till he was replaced by Sanju. One of the best moments Singh had, was when in the 33rd minute he won a sweeping tackle and created a chance for Sougou, which went almost in, but for the lack of effort from the latter was placed into the hands of the keeper.

Sehnaj Singh- 7.0  

Sehnaj had a quiet but effective game in the middle of the park and played the role envisaged by Claude Makelele. Creating long balls, making interceptions and ensuring that the play was moving forward while screening the back four, Sehnaj was the silent enforcer with a 68% passing accuracy and 6 clearances.

Subhashish Bose- 8.5

When you decide that your team needs you to perform, you need to wear different hats and Subhasish did exactly that. He was brilliant in defence and put in timely tackles and made point perfect interceptions to deny any chance for Romeo to play.

He was also the guy providing cover for newbie Joyner and made marauding runs down the left and put in well-weighted crosses. He was truly an all-rounder in the game. With 72% passing accuracy, seven clearances, three tackles, two blocks and two interceptions, Bose was the star man.

Souvik Chakrabarti- 7.0

The right-back was the main target for the opposition, but he stood firm and made sure that he was not outwitted by the talented Chhangte. He still needs to stabilise his game and the continuous instruction from Captain Goian may be the correct way going forward.

Joyner Lourenco- 7.5

With five blocks and four clearances on his debut, Joyner showed his worth and might have etched his name as the main centre-back alongside his Captain. Joyner looked decisive but needed cover from Sehnaj and Bose but that was more of a precaution and not a necessity. He did well in the game.

Sanju Pradhan-NA

He came, he stabilised the midfield and he ended the game well for Mumbai.

Vignesh Dakhshinamurthy-NA

Came into wrap the game and took his first bow.

Delhi Dynamos

Pritam Kotal - 6.0

Tried his best but did not account for much and looked as much out of the game as the rest of his team. He did run ahead and create chances but his sphere of influence was limited and he was outrun for most of the game.

Rana Gharami - 6.0

After having scored a screamer early on in the season, there was a high praise of this young chap. But with the all the hype having died down, Rana played quite a non-chalant game and he seemed lost on the pitch and conceding the penalty was a blow to his team. He surely can do much better.

Narayan Das - 5.5

Das looked out of place and was constantly targeted by Issokho. He was unable to stand the pressure and played a huge role of the fault leading to both the goals his team conceded. Being India’s main left back might seem to be a distant possibility now as his counterpart Bose had a wonderful outing.

Romeo Fernandes - 6.0

Tried his best and whipped in fantastic crosses but left a lot to be desired. Romeo was outmarked and out run by Bose and he was not able to impact the game from under his shadow. He could have done much better if he had a weaker opponent.

Vinit Rai - 5.0

His performance was off today and he looked resigned to the defeat and his team lost pace and composure due to him. Taking him off at half time helped a bit but his replacement Bikramjeet did not do much either.

Lallianzuala Chhangte - 6.0

The winger was left frustrated by the lack of service and support from his teammates. He played a good and ambitious part in trying to move past his man but Souvik stood his ground and restricted his movement. This game was well below his own standard.

Substitutions

Bikramjit Singh – 5.0

On a night when his team failed to find their footing, Bikramjit’s onset helped stabilise an erratic team. But as time passed, his level of influence almost vanished and he was another dead weight in the Delhi setup.
