Exclusive: Delhi Dynamos rope in Minerva Punjab custodian Arshdeep Singh
The shot-stopper has signed a three-year deal with the Lions.
Indian Super League outfit Delhi Dynamos have snapped up Minerva Punjab custodian, Arshdeep Singh. The 22-year-old goalkeeper had shown great promise last season for Minerva Punjab, after joining from the AIFF Elite Academy back in 2015. He has signed a three-year contract with the Dynamos, keeping him at the club till 2022.
Arshdeep came through the ranks at the AIFF Elite Academy, before joining Minerva Punjab. He made his debut for the Warriors back in 2017 and since then he has been very promising for the former I-League champions.
Ever since Rakshit Dagar left for East Bengal, it has been a battle between Arshdeep and Bhaskar Roy to take the mantle in goal for Minerva. However, both of them were good in patches and being a youngster Arshdeep showed that he has the skills and potential to be a top shot-stopper in the future. The 22-year-old has also featured in the AFC Cup and despite the disappointing result, it was a great experience and a stepping stone for the young custodian.
He was recently in the news after a nasty collision with Chennaiyin FC striker CK Vineeth in their AFC Cup match. Arshdeep was subsequently taken to the nearby hospital and with multiple fractures, the custodian had to undergo a surgery. However, he will be up and running before the upcoming season.

The 34-year-old Spaniard was one of the few positives from last season for the Lions. Playing under him and Albino Gomes, will allow the youngster to observe and hone his skills.
The 22-year old custodian was also included in Derrick Perreira's U-23 Indian team for the AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers earlier this year. Arshdeep has shown glimpses of his brilliance last season. He's someone who likes to take charge of his defenders in the penalty box. He is extremely agile and wears his heart on his sleeve and never shies away from pouncing on the ball. However, his distribution and passing need improvement. Hopefully, under the expert supervision of Josep Gombau, Arshdeep will look to enhance his skills in the upcoming campaign.
