Delhi Dynamos sign Martin Perez Guedes from Racing Club II
The Argentine is the latest recruit of the Lions ahead of the new campaign.
Indian Super League outfit, Delhi Dynamos have announced the signing of Martin Perez Guedes from Racing Club II, the reserve team to Racing Club in Argentina Primera Division, which is the top tier among Argentina’s association football leagues.
The 27-year-old is chiefly an attacking midfielder, but also has the ability to shift in as a second striker or an attacking winger. Guedes will make his ISL debut with the Lions, after spending most of his career playing in the lower divisions in Argentina. His most recent outing was for Defensores de Belgrano, where he spent a season on loan playing in the second division, Primera B Nacional.

The focus behind signing the player from Argentina seems to be to put more technically sound players in the midfield, which suits the playing style of the tactician, Josep Gombau. Guedes will bring Latin flair to the league and is probably the spark that has been missing in the Dynamos’ squad. The tactician has a challenge on his hands to improve from his disappointing first season at the club.

The Delhi-based outfit has been active in the market lately, signing midfielders like Xisco Hernandez, Jerry Mawihmingthanga and defender Diawandou Diagne from Bengaluru FC, Jamshedpur FC and KAS Eupen respectively. Delhi also recently secured the signing of defender Gaurav Bora from FC Pune City after losing Gianni Zuiverloon to Kerala Blasters.
The latest signing, Guedes is an exciting figure who will provide good competition for places and will face a stern challenge in order to establish himself in the squad. It remains to be seen how the Argentine midfielder settles in, in his debut campaign for his new employers.
