The Islanders suffered a setback in their pursuit of playoffs qualification this season.
Mumbai City FC’s head coach Jorge Costa saw his side suffer a crushing defeat against a spirited FC Goa by a scoreline of 5-2, a result that will cause them problems aplenty in their ambitions for a top-four finish. During the post-match interaction with the media, he expressed his disappointment after reflecting on the game where he said, “We lost this game because we made mistakes. At this level, after making these kind of mistakes you cannot wait for nothing more than to lose the game.” [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Upon being asked about the rising pressure to finish in fourth place, Costa responded by saying, “Nothing’s changed, I am too good at maths to say that nothing’s changed. We came here to win the game of course, but knowing that if we beat Chennaiyin in the last game, we will finish in the top four.” Furthermore, he also had a message for his players where Jorge Costa said, “It’s not easy to lose by conceding five goals, but the players must think about the good things they are doing since the beginning of the season. They must believe in the work and believe in themselves because the Chennaiyin game will be the game of our lives.” The cameras saw the tactician addressing his players in a huddle after the final whistle. When asked about what he said, the tactician responded by stating, “It’s a private thing, but nothing special.” [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="RELATED NEWS | ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] “We’ll not give up, we will not give up. Yes, it’s true that losing by five is difficult, but we will not give up. We have one more game to play and we want the result that we need. It was a bad result, but it was not a bad game,” he further added. Costa concluded his interaction by reiterating, “I know it seems a little bit stupid after losing by five, but it was not a bad game. We made individual mistakes. We had more shots than Goa, but then individual quality made the difference.” MCFC will face Chennaiyin FC in their last league game of the campaign, which could decide which of the two sides will secure the final playoffs spot in the Indian Super League. Interestingly, the Marina Machans have two games in hand before that encounter, with four points separating the two.Latest News
