Several other Indian players fared well for the hosts as they bagged their first win of the season.

Hyderabad-Kerala Blasters was a crunch game for both teams. In the event, Hyderabad FC came back from a goal down to beat a high-flying Kerala Blasters side by a 2-1 scoreline. The men from Kerala took the lead in the first half, thanks to a delicious ball from Sahal Abdul Samad for Rahul KP. The youngster beat Kamaljit Singh with finesse to make it 1-0.

In the second half though, one penalty and one special free-kick from Marcelinho, meant that Hyderabad FC got their first points on the board in this season’s Indian Super League.

Watch: Match Highlights - Hyderabad FC 2-1 Kerala Blasters FC

Hyderabad FC

Kamaljit Singh- 7.0

The youngster should’ve done better for Kerala’s first goal, but apart from that, he was secure for most of the night. He came out and dealt with corners and set-pieces well and distributed the ball effectively at times too.

Gurtej Singh- 5.5

One of Hyderabad’s three centre-halves, Gurtej did a decent job of keeping the Kerala players at bay for majority of the game, but picked up an unnecessary yellow card in the latter stages.

Shankar Sampingiraj- 6.0

Like his Indian defensive partner, the centre-back did well for periods of the game, but showed serious signs of fatigue towards the end. Could’ve positioned himself better at times, as he kept getting caught behind the run of play.

Nikhil Poojary- 6.5

Kept tugging away at Kerala with his pacy runs forward whenever they were on the counter-attack, but got booked for a silly challenge on the edge of the box. Needs to improve his decision-making in the final third.

Rohit Kumar- 6.0

Like many players in the Hyderabad team, the general lack of fitness was apparent in the midfielder. Struggled to make any sort of impact in midfield once his team scored the winner, but did well before that.

Mohammad Yasir- 7.0

Showed his pace on multiple occasions on the counter and consistently troubled the Kerala defenders with powerful running down the left flank. Worked some good sequences with Marcelinho as well.

Abhishek Halder- 6.5

Struggled to come into the game in the first half, as Kerala dominated proceedings for the most part. Caused the Blasters’ defenders a little bit of concern in the second period with his physical presence.

Robin Singh- 6.0

The former Bengaluru FC striker needs to work on his finishing and decision-making in the final third, if he has any hopes of maintaining his stay at the top level. Wasted multiple chances to deliver the killer ball.

Substitutes

Tarif Akhand- N/A

Brought on in an attempt to spend a few more seconds as the game wore off.

Kerala Blasters

Rehenesh TP- 6.0

He was undone by two set-pieces - both of which he couldn’t have done anything about. He was sidestepped by Stankovic for the penalty and even Buffon in his prime couldn’t have saved Marcelinho’s free-kick.

Mohammad Rakip- 6.0

Kept bombarding down the flank with his mazy runs all through the game, but like the rest of the Kerala team, couldn’t find the penetration that was required. Needs to improve his final delivery into the box.

Prashant Karuthadathkuni- 6.5

Like the rest of the Kerala wingers, worked tirelessly in the second half. First, in the search of the winner and then in the quest for an equalizer. He worked hard tracking back whenever Hyderabad counter-attacked as well.

Sahal Abdul Samad- 6.5

Played a brilliant pass to Rahul for the Blasters’ only goal of the game. He was subbed off in the second half, but didn’t have a bad game, as he controlled the pace of the match from midfield.

Rahul KP- 7.0

Stepped up and did the business for Kerala in the first half, as he executed a brilliant sequence with Sahal before beating Kamaljit with great aplomb. Did well with his direct runs as well.

Jessel Carneiro- 6.5

Moved the ball well in the middle of the park and showed a good bit of composure in the second half. He struck a venomous volley in the second 45, that almost caught Hyderabad out, only to fly just wide.

Substitutes

Raju Gaikwad- 6.0

Came on to replace the injured Zuiverloon in the 13th minute and had a fairly mistake-free evening. He wasn’t troubled too much as Hyderabad played mostly on the counter-attack.

Halicharan Narzary- N/A

Came on too late to make any sort of impact.
