Nestor Gordillo: Hyderabad FC midfielder suspended for eight games

The Spaniard was one of the top performers in the title-winning run for Chennai City in I-League last season.
Hyderabad FC will begin the debut season in Indian Super League without their new signing Nestor Gordillo who is currently serving a four-month ban by AIFF.
Apparently, the Spanish midfielder had signed for Hyderabad's predecessor FC Pune City in an allegedly illegal transfer from Chennai City FC. As a matter of fact, Gordillo penned a deal with the Stallions despite being on a contract with the Coimbatore-based side.

This naturally left Chennai fuming over his actions and they raised the issue.
Eventually on 13th August, the AIFF Players' Status Committee decided to hand over a four-month ban to the player for illegally signing with a new club without the consent of his former club.
Nestor Gordillo, a former Las Palmas B and Atletico Madrid B player, was one of the top performers for Chennai City last season in the I-League. Starring alongside Sandro Rodriguez and Pedro Manzi, the midfielder registered eight goals and 12 assists in their title-winning season.
However, following the conclusion of the season, Gordillo's actions surprised everybody at the club as they were caught totally unaware of his moves. Signing for a new club while still being on a contract with the club of origin was a straight case of 'breach of contract' and Gordillo was rightly penalised for his actions.
